They should crush any car caught going over a ridiculous speed anywhere but a designated racing zone.
What is considered ridiculous is up for debate, but I think anything over 180 km/h shows disregard for for the lives of fellow humans. It's incredibly selfish.

^^ I did. He's just some rich guy who wanted to show off, and now he got busted for it. Those "kids with no brains" are the ones that his video was showing off to. He can call it a promotional video all he wants, but I don't think anybody who is looking for an exotic car was particularly impressed or suprised that they can go 300km/h on a straight stretch..

Of course not. But keying someone is trivial in comparison to the massive display of disrespect and risk to public safety that reckless driving is. Probably somewhere everyday in Canada someone innocent gets permanently disabled because of someone else's decision to engage in dangerous driving. But people are ambivalent about speeders whereas a little thing like keying is seen in black and white.
I got -2 User CP points for this little comment, but I'll be you the guys saying "cool! I did 180 last week in my Civic!" don't get reprimanded for what I would consider to be a much more offensive comment. Just shows what some people's value systems are.

That was kind of funny, wasn't it. Ooh wow, these guys can push the gas pedal as far as it will go. What incredible skill.
I gotta admit that if I drove one of those cars I'd probably do the same thing, but I sure as hell wouldn't videotape myself doing it and put it out there for the whole world to see. What a wank session for the lot of them. Driving those cars around isn't enough of an ego-stroking for them -- they have to advertise.

Definitely not skill, perhaps some guts, but not skill. What does take skill is to drive a car around turns really fast (left and right turns, not you Nascar) and not pull a Eddie Griffin.

I wonder if the person who is in possession of the raw footage will have enough sense to destroy the original tapes before the RCMP comes knocking with a warrant?
I doubt the YouTube video will be enough for a conviction, but I bet these idiots were so proud of themselves that they made sure to document every part of their "speed trial", including ensuring that the camera on the speedometer and the camera on their faces were in perfect sync to prove "I was behind the wheel and I went that fast".
Note to self: When I am about to commit a major crime, make sure I have video cameras in place to document every aspect of the crime, including a close up of my face while I am committing the crime, and another close up of something that proves conclusively that the crime was committed.

I suspect they knew exactly what they were doing.
I would not be at all surprised if they are aware (or have been advised ahead of time) that there are enough loop holes & technicalities to keep charges from sticking.

I've been thinking the same thing. Getting a warrant here wouldn't be easy though, it would probably be one of the first times (if not the first time) in Canada a warrant to obtain evidence of a non-alchohol related driving offence was issued.
I think... but I'm not sure, that you can not get a warrant for a provincial offence. So the RCMP would have to be going for something like "Dangerous Driving" under the criminal code (see link http://www.defencelaw.com/careless-driving.html)
I would think by now that they've tried to destroy the original footage. But since these dudes are loaded with cash, everything is probably digital and who knows how many identical digital copies exist.
I have full expectation that there will never be any charges that result from the video, but you never know. I'm glad I'm not in that video... though I'd certainly love even 15 minutes behind the wheel of one of those cars!

Someone keyed your CAT????? Holy crap, I'm not a cat person, but that would put me over the edge. What did that poor animal do to deserve that? Call the SPCA! Call the police! Callout the freakin' marines! This is war! Until we find this jerk that keyed your cat I don't think any of us should sleep. This is worse than Michael Vick!

Keying the cars actually in the video is one thing, but wanton defacing of cars at will like you're suggesting is another thing all together. So your value system says kick the crap out of some innocent guy's pride and joy? Nice.
On a side note, I saw a Maserati MC12 (#3 on the Top Gear Power Lap) with Utah plates driving into the Point on the Bow condo Area. Quite the sight, especially with the gills, wings, slats and what not in the rear of the car. Kind of a waste on ordinary roads, watching it trundle along at 30/kph.

Had an idea!
|
There is a road down here....straight stretch for 8 miles, hardly any cops ever....people drag race on it all the time.
Halifax Flats they call it....I've never seen anyone go slower than 120 km/h on it.

Why not shed a little light on the hundreds of "Crotch Rocket" riders flexing their bikes muscle while we're at it. Much more dangerous and the greater number of them, seems like more of a threat to society, than a couple of exotic car drivers. Just a bit of perspective. They broke the law plain and simple, but there is much hype over this when there are bigger threats on the road. IMHO
