I think it’s much higher than that lol
I’d say 10%.
Keep in mind Weegar just got traded, and Andersson has familiarity. Not the most ideal signing but I wouldn’t hate it.

Zach is better than I expected, but Rasmus is still a significantly better dman in my opinion.

Ras is better in the ozone but Zach is better in the dzone

I also don't see it happening but man would it ever be awesome for Raz to go to Vegas, tank their season to help the draft pick we get from them to be even higher, then come back and sign in Calgary again to reap the rewards of a better team in 2 or 3 years.
Actual double agent stuff

It brings me no joy to see Andersson floundering in Vegas. Not that I want Vegas to do well and having them fall in the standings benefits us, but Ras is a good guy.

Ya, I do not want to see him flounder. He was awesome and way better than we expected. My kids middle name is Rasmus (assmoose). He was just drafted at the time and my wife gandpa (not peepaw) was named Rasmus. God I hate the Flames. They infect me.

I called this trade a modest loss but with what has happened since its nearing home run win status. I didn’t love that the picks were in 27 and 28 and didn’t have much of an opinion on Whitecloud. The fact Whitecloud came in and helped make Weegar movable was a massive win. Flames got a good return on Weegar who could easily become a negative asset if his play continues to slip.
Getting a 1st and 2nd thst has potential to be a first, a prospect who has shown very well since the trade and a replacement Dman on a great contract was a huge win in early hindsight.

In concert with the subsequent trade of Weegar, this trade is a home run. To get out of a five year contract so we can use that spot a money elsewhere was a tidy bit of business.
Whitecloud is also a type of defender that the flames need and don’t have a ton of.
Connie has done an amazing job of the deadline.

I think Rasmus may have Klinburg'd himself, thought the grass and offers were going to be greener, but they weren't.
Prety sure if you asked Klingburg his biggest regret, its not signing that extension with Dallas.
Rasmus had a poor year last year, was having a good bounce back season until the trade. If he continues to flounder for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs. IMO it is likely he ends up with a 7x7 max offer. If he has a stealer playoffs that changes.
I suspect teams will be offering him deals in the 3-5 year range if he doesn't pick it up.

At least he's going to get the "free agent experience."

They explained the situation on TSN.
Vegas only has $3.2 million in projected cap space for next season.
Even if they wanted to sign him to an extension, they can't.
They need to make moves in the off season or use off season LTIR to make cap space for an extension.

He probably won’t get the same offer he got from Bruins unless he turns it around down the stretch drive but thanks to a thin market and rising cap he is going to sign a huge contract in the summer

It’s getting little more common to see players likely getting less in UFA than they thought: Klingberg, Lindholm, Gaudreau, Taylor Hall. Rasmus might be another.

I wonder if the Flames can circle back and use their cap space to extract another asset out of Vegas to tilt this even more to their advantage? Take Brett Howden off their hands for future considerations?

Frank Seravalli said a deal was already agreed on, just waiting for right time to announce
Add that to the TSN report, it makes sense

I don’t get why it wasn’t the right time soon after the trade. Wouldn’t fans want to know they gave up all those assets for a non-rental? And now, when things aren’t going well, Aubé it won’t be as well received.

Because they pulled the same bull#### tampering act with Hanifin. They already had a deal worked out, probably signed too just not announced until far enough out that it doesn’t look suspicious

I suppose. But most teams announce a signing within a week or so. Calgary did with Weegar and Huberdeau. Also when they got the rights to Jaybo. W week or so wouldn’t be suspicious.
