He doesn't like Tkachuk.
More importantly, he must tell everyone.

I didn't read any of that as not liking Tkachuk.
Fact is, the Panthers started winning in the playoffs when postseason Bobrovsky turned from a pumpkin into a goalie. Now he's turning into a pumpkin again and they're not even going to make the playoffs.
Tkachuk and Bennett were huge contributors (as was Barkov), but with the bad version of Bobrovsky, that team goes nowhere.
It's the old saying: Goaltending is 80% of hockey – unless you haven't got it, then it's 100%.

I'm sure Huberdeau would've won a cup with Barkov if he stayed there.
I mean you could say Bobo "just got better". I credit it to cocaine.

Why are we talking about the Panthers in the Kadri thread?

Be a Tkachuk fanboy all you want. He's an important player for them. He's not the key to their success. As far as "turning their franchise around', you realize they were first in the league the year before he got there, right? He didn't win anything until he played with Barkov and Bobrovsky.
|
The Panthers don't win 2 cups without all of Bobrovsky, Barkov and Tkachuk. I really think you are underestimating the impact Tkachuk had to their room. Barkov himself credited Tkachuk the most with the culture turn around.
This is also why I will be interested to see how the Avalanche perform now with Kadri. They have not won a playoff series since Kadri left, and maybe he was more important to their leadership group than some thought.

Maybe they don’t win. But someone asked who was most important. I agree with coaching, and I think in order, it was Bob and Barkov after that. Then Tkachuk, Bennett, etc, in descending order.
It’s not that I think Tkachuk isn’t an elite player (despite being a dick, he is). But Barkov I just think is a top 3 centre in the league and the most well rounded player in the game. If he isn’t Tkachuk can’t play his game, and neither can Bennett on the second line. Barkov can take on the best centres on the opposition and that frees Bennett to play offence. Most teams have to devote a checking line to the opposition’s best line.

GioforPM has some notoriously awful takes when it comes to Tkachuk. He's also incredibly disingenuous when called out and loves to argue in the most pedantic way possible. His series of posts about Tkachuk a couple months back was embarrassing.

Can't believe that Nick (whoever that is) thinks he would crack the Flames' top 10. While I agree that Curren shouldn't be overlooked, not many would slot him in our top 10. And that isn't a slight, just a high bar.

He did say barely. I don’t know enough about them after Reschny, Wyttenbach, Potter and Basha to say. I guess it also depends on if you think Gridin and Brzu have graduated (I do).

Max Curren, a 19 year old center with 1.32 points per game in the WHL....likely doesn't even crack our top ten prospects. That's incredible.
And the Flames are sitting on 8 picks in the first 3 rounds of the 2026 draft, including one that is likely going to be top 5.
By far the deepest prospect pool the Flames have ever had. The post Iggy rebuild wasn't even in the ballpark prospect wise.

I'm assuming no, because the season isn't over. You're eligible to win the Calder until the season ends.
Parekh, Gridin, Reschny, Brzustewicz, Potter
Wyttenbach, Honzek, Kuznetsov, Basha, Suniev
Stockselius, Mews, Kerins, Stromgren, Castagna
If he slots into that 3rd group, I'd be happy

It's going to be a fun vote this summer, after adding the 8 picks in the top 65 (though I suspect they may trade quantity for quality to get another 1st)
There will be good prospects in the 20s - even the late 20s

I didn't use Calder eligibility as my guide - just if I thought they'd proven to be NHLers. Some of these analysts use very different criteria for whatever reason.
But by the end of the season, three of those guys will be past that. Maybe four if Brzu gets more games. And Honzek would have graduated as well.
