Overall, very happy with this deal, but more than that it feels like we FINALLY have a path, we are bottoming out, and are acquiring an obscene amount of draft capital in the process (like almost historic amounts). This is the way…..

So many people called the Kadri signing terrible - one of the worst contracts in the NHL, and completely unmovable.

The Flames are paying him $5.08m for him to play for someone else. I'd say that's a pretty crappy deal. Furthermore, it takes away one of the three retention slots for the next three seasons.

and the Avs are paying a 1st, 2nd, player, prospect to pay him 15M when they could have just signed him for less than the Flames did
Flames retained and got major assets for a player they got for free, not even you can spin this as bad

I'm happy to say I always like the signing. I wanted Kadri on the Flames going all the way back to when he was drafted.
I think a big part of why people didn't like it though was that Monahan had to leave to make it possible.
