Vancouver can't be caught...Flames have a better shot at making the playoffs

Thank god Conroy is our GM. Some folks just wanted to trade this guy for whatever because he is old and nobody would want him and it was far more important to lose games than get a good return. Conroy does his job properly and gets 3 solid assets for Kadri.

New lines predictions? I guess
Coleman Backlund Coronato
Zary Frost Gridin
Farabee Strome Sharangovich
Olofsson Pospisil Klapka
Lomberg Beecher
I think Othmann also plays some games
Edit: forgot Coleman

Yep, they are pretty devoid of picks between this year and next, so getting that 2028 first was probably the best chip we could hope for from them.
Plus it has a really good chance of being a better pick than either their 2026 or 2027 firsts will be.

Overall good work by Conny this deadline.

I see that as a bonus. They are trading old players to good teams, and already have a full pipe line. I'm 3-4 years, the flames could be an emerging team and the Avs might have just supplemented that with an 11th / 12th overall. It's a gamble worth taking. The 2026 would be mid to late 20s at the best in a draft where the flames already have 8 or 9 picks in the top 70.
I hope next year they can trade Coleman for a 29 1st. Keep the gravy train rolling.

Or you package up a couple picks to move up higher in the first round (which seems more likely).

Yes but a 2026 first would better position the Flames to move up in the draft, and potentially get two (or even three?) star players early in this year's draft.

Flames retaining for 3 years should also put another popular claim to bed for good.

I believe in the Jays.

I like this deal. I'm not going to drool over it or anything but a 1st, a 2nd, and a B prospect ain't bad.

I think the Avs wants the 4th when Conroy insisted on Curran or the other way around

Great work by Flames management. This was an awesome trade. I'm glad Conroy was able to eventually retain less than the ask.

These later 1sts in 2027 and 2028 (likely to crack the roster in 2030ish) acquired this season will be valuable in keeping the pipeline full while the Flames begin a contention window, or alternatively, can be helpful for trades to improve a young roster looking to begin contending.
Very smart for Conroy to continue spreading these first round selections out over 5+ drafts now.
I'm thrilled with how Conroy has managed this teardown, with my only gripe being that I have to wait so long to see this team begin having success again, but it will be worth it, and much more fun to cheer for a lot of younger players next season.
Also, the summer annual CP prospect rankings are going to be a blast.

960 can't bring in a replacement for logo?
SN putting a sick guy and a recovering guy on the mic for 5 hours for deadline day is a choice.
I think they're broadcasting nation wide on the network too.

Just need the details on the conditions, but gotta be stoked with the prospect of a top 3 pick, a ton of draft picks to deal with, to add to an already good prospect pool, and perhaps most important of all, a clear franchise direction top to bottom.
Happiest day as a long time flames fan in years!
