With Coleman having the extra year, not sure how enthused a 3rd party would be to tie up a retention spot for just a mid round pick

Mid pick and a Poirier level prospect then. Either way, it's an option if they have to use their last retention spot on Kadri. Which sounds like that's the way it's going to go.

If Naz wants out, they're not gonna dilly dally.

It feels like a grind but I think that's mainly because of how overed this stuff is. Trade boards, rumors, speculation - all makes it seem like a deal could happen any time. The grind has always been there, made worse by the cap and trade protection, but the biggest factor is it seems like these things take forever because we hear about things much earlier now than we used to.

As I said the other day I think the process for Conroy is simple
- You set a price. Likely one with retention and without
- When someone meets that price, you do a final check to see if anyone will beat it and/or get the player to approve the team if they have them on their NTC list.
- You finalize
- Or if the dynamics change, as they did with the Rasmus deal, you adjust that price and make the deal.

Right now CC doesn't have to adjust his price, though there is the risk of injury always looming. As the deadline approaches, he can choose to adjust his price to get deals done, or hang on to players with term remaining.

Blake Coleman not sitting isn't a surprise to me. We were still playing Rasmus after a deal was already agreed to, and Andersson just needed to come to an agreement with the Bruins.

It is pretty reckless, but seems the way the Flames organization is going to handle things.

Pretty sure a buyer want to see the goods they're buying works. Coleman playing doesn't mean didly squat to his trade. He's had two months off.

It's not really picking someone's pocket if you tell them you're going to take it and if they want to, they can keep their stuff.

Bostons cap space is very tight but they do gain a bunch closer to. Tampa would need to move a contract for Coleman. Coleman for an entry level player + would be enough for Boston in a few days

I call BS on that, I think the Avs want Kadri most, there is no question about chemistry with him. They know exactly what they will be getting. They are just trying to get the price down.

Nelson is a better defensive centre than Trochek and Kadri is a better offensive centre than Trochek. The contract is an issue but Kadri is the best fit.

Was gonna say, a buyer would maybe want to see that his recovery is done.

Poirier level prospect is worth nothing. He was on waivers already.

Garrioch just reported on the Sens broadcast that the right shot dman that Staios is most interested in is Weegar but that the asking price is quite high. Said Weegar is willing to waive his NMC to move back home to Ottawa.

The negotiations don't take long; it's the dialogue.

I'm torn on Weegar.

He'd return a lot in a trade.

But I think I'd rather he's here as a leader and mentor for the young guys... Need some of those guys around and he's a beaut.
