It was hardly even a question. At least not a coherent one. He just threw a bunch of unnecessary shade and then tacked on "did you think it would be this hard" at the end lol.

Only ~2 more years of being underpaid in that ####hole, Connor.

He keeps having to answer for not being a winner when his management team fails him year after year.

I would have been happy for him if he chose to walk away, but instead he decided to sign a two sweetheart deal to once again give his management cap space to waste on below average players.

Oilers media is no good. McDavid is no good. Edmonton is no good.

Does being No Good take any extra special effort? Is it hard to be No Good, or is one predisposed to being No Good?

So with their top players fatigued and disheartened, does the pre-break skid continue?

Still lots of potential for that group to miss the playoffs!

I hate the Oilers fans and media more than their players. What an absurd question from Spector.

Please ask more, Spec.

One can only hope for it to continue, especially with them going through California.

Purely ego from Spector to, in his mind, keep his cred by asking the hard (in this case stupid) question. McDavid looking over at the PR guy after Spector asked that is all you need to know about that one.
Can’t wait until Drai gets his question from Spector.

Further questioning like this, which will happen if the Oilers start to stumble down the stretch, will just certainly push McDavid to move up his planned timeline for a move to a desired location.

You know Spector in his mind thinks he's doing the right thing by "asking the tough questions" but it's just so decadent and tactless... That team and media deserve each other.

Frankly it also explains McDavid's "I need to do it all" style of play. His team expects him to.
Subtly?
I would say that message is about as explicit as it could possibly be.

"That's a nice question thank you" with that tone was actually a good one by McDavid. Maybe he's not completely robotic.

I appreciate Spector’s efforts to drive Mavi out of town.

A million more different ways that it could have been answered, including “spec, can I have a word?” followed by a judo kick to the nuts and a judo chop to the neck with a “did that drop in your lap enough for you?”

I don’t remember Mavi’s one eye lid being injured, although that could be a PTSD tic.

Imagine having to answer Spector’s questions every day?

Let’s be 100% clear…. Mavi doesn’t win championships because he doesn’t want to. He isn’t willing to give up some personal success for team success, he has proven that over and over again. His words and actions don’t align.

He won’t win the next place he goes either.

He's been a wee bit less robotic than in years past and it's probably because he is occasionally starting to envision the future beyond Edmonton and there are small cracks forming in the statue.

Might even get a glimmer by the end of next year.

I keep thinking Tampa will take a big swing at McDavid in free agency. Kucherov will be coming off the books at age 34, maybe they still sign him but at a good discount. Wouldnt surprise me if his family has a house down there as well, being from the GTA

Strabismus. It's going around the Oilers' dressing room.

Don’t forget the flurry to the solar plexus.

The full clip provides a fun sound bite at the end, which could be a candidate for the next E=NG thread. “What other options do I have?”
