I think that this game proves why the NHL does seven games series. Canada was just torching the states most of that game but couldn't seal the deal. All my American Friends agree that the USA was incredibly lucky.

The Athletic has a good breakdown, and it highlights that the goal happened because the 3 of the best players in the world, each mean a critical mistake. And ultimately that's what it comes down to. You had the on the ice because they are your best chances at a win. And they, as a collective, blew it.
Similarly, each of Werenski and J. Hughes made not one, but at least 2 critical plays in that sequence to generate the goal.

I think both Makar and McDavid figured Mackinnon had a good bead on the puck and would easily turn back to offence. I know I did when I first saw the play developing.

Funny, all the games Canada won against the US could have went either way (and we probably could have lost). Yesterday was pure domination and they lose.

Yeah, I'm not even sure McDavid's mistake is the gravest of them all. I've watched the replay a few times and can't figure out what Makar/MacKinnon were doing.

In the moments following the men's victory, the team was seen celebrating in their locker room, including with FBI Director Kash Patel who was seen chugging beer and spraying it around the locker room before Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk removed his own gold medal and placed it around Patel's neck.
Patel was also seen holding his cell phone for a call with the President of the United States, Donald Trump. The call, which last more than two and a half minutes with the team, also included a moment where Trump and the USA men's team joked and laughed about having to also invite the American women's hockey team to the White House when the men's team visits.

If they feel safe to go, sure. The women actually deserved to win.

I hope the boomers in their life instill the importance of commas in sentence structure before they kick the bucket.

Trumpchuk deserves the jeers way more, and i'm the resident McDavid critic.
His comments at the white house solidified him in the pantheon of all time losers.

As whiny as McDavid is, he's not even close to the Orange Pedo Rapist Fanboy!
And then he puts his gold medal around Kash Patel??!!! what the actual eff!!
They might as well rename the Florida Panthers to the Florida Oranges.

He was giving Kash the gold medal in the discipline of "pedophile protection". 100% earned by Kash on that one.

Some of the worst takes I've seen on CP were the pre game "this is just a game no politics". I still can't put myself in a mindset that naive if I try really hard.

Hard to have a real dialogue with you when your post starts with stuff like "worst takes" and "mindset that naive"
So I won't waste my time.

Hey if Canada losing causes Trump to fire and arrest Kash Patel I will gladly take that exchange.

Well I was one of the most vocal in saying that this game had no broader political implications.

But do you think the replacement will be much better?
It will still be a lapdog for trump.
The fact that Patel's incompetence is on full display and he's a terrible liar does at least provide a window of transparency in a way.
If the replacement had a reasonable poker face and some discretion in operating nefariously on trump's behalf then we'd be more in the dark and unable to track all the #### as we can with that dingus Patel.
It's american taxpayer dollars anyways, if they want to fund Patel's jetcapades and partying, that's on them.
