How about we stop putting the blame on individual players and just take the loss. The Canadians had the better chances but the Americans capitalized on theirs.

It sucks. Hopefully, Canada is up for revenge in 4 years. This team will likely look a lot more different.

Canada made a mistake not bringing in more scoring. Guys like Hagel, Horvat etc did nothing all tournament. Lesson learned bring more scoring.

The only higher scoring forwards they didn't bring were Scheifele and Johnston. Hagel has as many goals as Scheifele, and more than Bedard. Just two less than Johnston.

Horvat was a pretty key guy all tournament. And he has 24 goals, which is more than Bedard as well (3 behind Scheifele).

The lack of 5 on 5 OT is just such a big miss as a spectator. I like the 3v3 for regular season NHL. It's a more fun way to get a result than a shootout. I don't even mind it for prelim games. The Olympics are actually very time sensitive, there is a lot of planning that goes into moving people around, where big groups of people will be at what time, transportation and so on. You can't have a game that could go on and one for another couple of hours, 3-on-3 ensures a quick finish and timings staying on track.

The OT goal was on McDavid. Nothing changes that, including 4 nations.

I wanted Canada to win it all as much as anyone, but if you cant appreciate how the US shared this win with Gaudreau’s family, then you should probably take a moment to reevaluate your priorities.

If anyone needed this win, it was them. A gold medal means nothing compared to how it makes me feel to see that family have a chance to smile and celebrate.

Absolute masterclass move by Chucky and his teammates. Bravo to them, and bravo the Canadians who played a fantastic game against a top tier opponent. Everyone involved in this game should feel nothing but pride.

People can be upset about the loss but still appreciate the Gaudreau moment. It doesn’t have to be either or.

McDavid gave up possession by missing a shot on net in OT. There are a few Canadians like Celebrini who also gave up possession by taking a shot that didn’t go in the net in Ot.

In those cases though the other two defenders didn’t make the choices that Makar or McKinnon made.

4 nations was fun but it doesn’t have the same juice as a gold medal or Stanley cup deciding game. And Connor hasn’t had the big play in those games so far.
