Another rather cringe worthy take and not a good coping mechanism. They seem pretty ecstatic and proud from everything we can see on the broadcast.

This is true. But all the other pedo rapist fascist comments that permeate every thread are so tiring.

It benefitted Team Canada yesterday and I would argue it's better than deciding on a shootout. Still it's a solid effort by the Canadian team to take it to OT. We should be proud of them.

I had said, earlier, that international ice seemed huge for women 3 on 3, and it bit Canada. Stretch pass from behind US goal, caught 2 ladies off to change, leaving only Thompson to deal with the D-Man that leaked up the boards. Thompson bit on the outside fake. Desbiens was a little slow to get the blocker down on the early released backhand. Tough result, in a hard played game.

I have to say, my youtube has been flooded with curling rules/techniques, but, aside from seeing it is shuffleboard with concrete blocks, I find the whole exercise a little strange, and the whole deal with brooms is just weird looking. But, wishing you Canadians luck in hucking granite down the ice.

Marginally. It shouldn't be this way in the elimination rounds. Just play 5v5, someone will get tired and screw up, it's not the NHL and it's not going to four OT periods (although that would be pretty cool).

On the other hand, posters with takes like this should probably STFU.

The vile hatred for players on team USA and even Gretzky now is disturbing. Try reading up on the definition of fascist and you might not want to use the term so loosely to label others.

Knight is an exceptional player, she is basically that team's version of Crosby.

Keller is 29.

Point being, with few exceptions, players 35+ are going to be liabilities in best on best tournaments like this.

Players in the 25 to 30 age range is probably ideal; you take players outside that range only if they are exceptional.

So true. The level of obsession on display from a bunch of people here is alarming. Can't wait for the outrage to get directed at us for trying to keep things on track.

Every hockey thread has been turning into a political thread lately. It's not a good trend and hopefully the mods will do something about it.

I’m not discounting their outrage at all. Everything going on south of the border is disgusting. But there are other threads to properly discuss those events.

There are more useful things to occupy yourself with than to play detective with every poster who triggers you. But hey, if it turns you on, go ahead.

Yeah. I realize the current US government is distasteful but these Olympians are living out their dreams competing for medals and I would expect a lot of them do not support what's going on in their country. I can't imagine a lot of the US women on the team are MAGA so why brush them with that paint?

I would love to know if it was the American referee who ignored the breakaway hook. Does anyone have the replay? The American ref was #29.

If she was the one who ignored that then we can all be mad at the US for an on-topic hockey reason.

Much better result than expected, the ladies played hard. The nature of my life is I pay close attention to female hockey (kids and volunteer life) and I thought it had the potential to be ugly for reasons a lot have already stated.

This was likely the last hurrah for the older group and I would expect the changing of the guard to start in earnest over the next 12 months.

I think we saw the experience 'shining through' for most of the game. Where that was clearly going to fail was in OT. Clearly out skilled 3 v 3

I appreciate this post. As logical extension, winning gold for your country when society feels like it is fractured and crumbling at home might feel more meaningful than it did before.
