Default Canada vs USA Women’s Gold Medal Match

I thought this deserves its own thread.

Canada is in deep against the young and fast Americans.

My opinion play trap and capitalize

The gap between the 2 teams is huge now.

It would be a shock if we can pull it off.

I've read that our women's team went the 2006 Canada men's team route of prioritizing experience over skill. Anyone have insight? I don't watch enough women's hockey to be familiar with most of the players.

Hopefully the Team Canada staff have a better strategy against the US team this time but I am not holding my breath. The US team just looked so much faster than the older Canadian team.

Go Canada Go!

I watched the first period of the preliminary game of this Olympics and USA just dominated. Canada was hanging on for dear life and they were lucky USA only scored 2. Canada hopefully has a better game plan today or they are in trouble.

They've had our number all year.

I just keep telling myself it's only one game. We can do it once? Maybe?

The last 5 games they have played Canada:

4-1 usa
6-1
10-4
4-1
5-0

That is a combined score of 29-7. I really don't see us having a chance.

I am hoping that Canadian coaches kept some things in their back pocket for the gold medal game, but the US women's team seems much faster, skilled, and younger. Hope we can rise to the challenge and give a game this time, maybe send it to a one goal wins overtime scenario. You never know.

Correct, left basically all of the young talent off the roster. Don't want to speak disparagingly of our Women but some of them on the team just aren't at this level anymore. Primerano would probably have been the best player on the ice (Outside of MPP) for Canada if she was on the roster, among other budding stars (And even like half of our leading scorers in the PWHL were left off)

Was it Salt Lake City where it was the worst case of bias reffing ever?

and we still won.

I’m not hopeful, this will come down to coaching today. If Canada can find a way to out coach the speed that’s the only route

5abi, do you live in a dour cloud or something? I don't think I have ever seen you post something positive or hopeful. Everything ok bud?

Yeah, Canada is the underdog. But I hope they win! They are the 2nd best team on earth at minimum.
