I guess Crosby would have been better to take that hit, rather than try and avoid it (easy to say in hindsight obviously)

Suzuki definitely looks out of his element, bobbling it. Stapled to the bench I hope.

Sounds like we can just injure Dostal, just don't jostle coming back on an icing

OK, well, there's the urgency I was sort of expecting we'd have to wait to see until 9 minutes left in the third, which is good. The Czechs cannot withstand this forever, it'll go in at some point here I'm sure.

The key will then be to keep going and not go "OK, disaster averted, let's go back to playing in conservative mode", only to give up a 3-2 goal with 4 minutes left and lose that way.

The D isnt very physical either....those rubs against the boards on dump ins start to add up through a game and this team just doesnt have that on this team.

I'm really not too concerned with the team. They're outskating them. The Czech's are just clogging up the slot. Eventually they'll pot a few, little doubt.

Either he’s hurt or a boneheaded coaching decision.

No Marchand either?

Doug Armstrong knows Thomas better than anyone in the NHL. And he didn't pick him for this team (or the 4 Nations). Tells you all you need to know.

Every GM in every country at every level of hockey assigns players roles. They have guys earmarked as checking centres, face-off guys, and penalty-killers. They don't just put the most offensively skilled players on the roster and unleash them. When an approach is employed by every winning organization across the hockey world at every level, it's probably a sound approach.

Besides Bedard, the guys left off are not great skaters. Horvat, Jarvis, etc have great wheels, they're skilled, and they can forecheck hard and kill penalties. That's why they're on the roster and Scheifele, Thomas, and Johnston aren't.

We need the effort from all the guys that we are seeing from McDavid, Celebrini and Mackinnon and get physical, but clean. Paging clean Tom Wilson..
