Do you mind quoting the relevant portion of the rulebook that says that you can’t touch the stone again prior to the hog line?
I’m not familiar with all the ins and outs of curling rules.

The rules explicitly allow for a rock to be touched again before the hogline.
Quote:
R9. TOUCHED MOVING STONES (a) Between the tee line at the delivery end and the hog line at the playing end:
If a moving stone is touched, or is caused to be touched, by the team to which it belongs, or by their equipment, the touched stone is removed from play immediately by that team. A double touch by the person delivering the stone, prior to the hog line at the delivering end, is not considered a violation
|
The issue is that there is also a rule that states
Quote:
|
The curling stone must be delivered using the handle of the stone.
|
and the Swedish commentary is interpreting that as touching anything other than the handle is not allowed. It's also possible that Kennedy's finger is still on the rock after the hogline and because the sensor is in the handle it won't detect that.

I was actually aware of all that. But since I know OP wasn’t I wanted to see them quote it.
Especially since they referred to it as blatant cheating as opposed to the minor rule violation that it was.
The Canadians kinda acted like jerks with all the swearing but realistically the Swedes should have noted it, told the Canadians about it, told the official and asked for closer review of stone delivery from that point onwards.
Curling is a lot closer to golf in that you rely on the gentleman’s agreement of sporting code to handle disputes. This isn’t hockey where you go bitch to the ref.

That old team of Hebert, Kennedy, Morris and Martin, don't mess with those guys.
Sweden are 0-3 and just frustrated. You could see Edin wanted no part of that.

Ashamed to be a Canadian after watching that video. I have no idea what the rules are but to respond with that type of language on a live televised broadcast is unacceptable.

There's is no more useless referee than a curling one. Even golf officials make rulings.
Curlers always have to settle disputes themselves.

MegaErtz when agents of the state execute civilians in broad daylight: "ho hum, the average american has it better than the average Canadian because per capita income is higher in USA"
MegaErtz when curlers use foul language: "Ashamed to be Canadian, unacceptable"

I was watching the Swedish broadcast live, so I know exactly what I was referring to, thank you very much. I would think correcting the stone with your finger on the granit, when you are not happy with your release, is a pretty blatant cheating and a huge advantage.

There seems to be countless videos of him always doing this, as far back as 10 years ago.
A burned rom is a burned rock. If he touched it after the hog line, it’s burned. What I don’t see clearly written, but claimed constantly, is that he can’t touch the granite. Can someone post this explicit rule????

Thanks for the additional info. Delivering it by the handle and “cannot touch the granite at all” are not the same thing and I’m confused why this is being latched onto so hard. He did use the handle… he also touched the granite. So what?
If passed the hog line, yeah, it’s burned.
