Conroy is using the break to go scout in person, per his recent interview with Pat on the fan 960. I believe he said the GMs will take a bit of a break from chatter and trade talks before things pick up. (interview was 6 days ago)

We've talked about Kent Johnson for years too. I would still give him a shot here. Have to think he's on the outside in Columbus given his very uneven production.

We can question CBJ's methods all we want but I'm pretty sure they aren't signing vets just to offload their kids/rookies.

Unironically I could see Conroy running a very friendly scout troop.

Good for the Flames if Columbus locks up Coyle, Marchmnent and Jenner. The upcoming 2026 free agent class is looking very thin.
I feel like normally we'd talk about players like Coleman/Kadri having less value because they aren't traditional expiring contract deadline rentals. But with the cap significantly increasing and a weak free agent pool, might be a different mindset than usual.
Hopefully Conroy can take advantage.

Yeah prospects.
For my money that's his biggest priority. Even if he gets a **** sandwich from the trades, they've shown they can do good things all the way to the 7th round.

I was thinking this exactly.
Thin FA crop makes players with term more attractive.

With Fiala done for the season, LA will be interesting to watch. Do they use that cap space to load up and give kopitar one last shot? Or do they ride it out with what they have? Have them as a potential destination for Kadri. Have to think with Panarin there they might load up more, whether that be with Kadri or other players in the rumor mil. Hope they are buyers as that will increase the prices for Kadri/Coleman etc.

I had a dream that an internal memo from SJ was leaked that stated that they’d pay basically any price for Coleman, among some other players. There was a defenseman they wanted a bit more and were prioritizing but he was next on their list.

I had a dream around prospects camp time where I was asking somebody about who impressed in the prospects camp. The answer was that "Ethan" kid. You can't discount dreams!

lol good ole Calgary puck
Rumour: San Jose is interested in Coleman
Calgary Puck: “I wonder if the Flames could get Celebrini or Misa!”
Actual trade: Flames trade Coleman for a 1st round pick and 1st round prospect
Calgary Puck: “what a underwhelming trade return! I hate getting 1st round picks they take years to develop!!” “I really like this Gridin kid! How did the Flames acquire him?”

I'd gleefully accept Bystedt for Coleman in a SJ deal.

Don’t forget, according to some on here. First round picks are essentially seconds.
