A. The Rangers just did a good job landing a well regarded prospect ready to make the pro jump. I'd way rather have Greentree than some late first rounder in 2026 or 2027 that won't be a factor for 3-4 years, if at all.
B. Why is it a dumb place to go? The Kings are consistently in the playoffs, have a solid team that could be great with a true offensive force like Panarin added.
This makes LA a very serious threat down the stretch this year, and obviously is attractive in terms of climate and lifestyle for the player. If they end up re-signing him or going on a deep playoff run it's a win for LA for sure and isn't the worst for the Rangers in getting a young, league ready player with a lot of upside next season.
