I guess this helps the Kings knock out the Oilers... so yay. But the Kings have to make the playoffs first.

The Kings have scored a whopping 5 more goals than the Flames this season. They are the classic 2-1 type of team so strange place for him to agree to. I guess he wanted to try out California life.

Will be better if four of LA, ANA, SEA, SJ and UTA pass the Oilers and they miss entirely.

Sounds like a deal done in a hurry. Rags didn't want to wait longer?

isn't Greentree's skating pretty bad or am I confusing him with someone else?

Don't mind seeing the Rangers getting screwed by this for once, instead of being the beneficiaries.

Panarin's extension prospects (considering what he wants) were probably pretty limited. His cap is $11.65 so that was also going to limit buyers. No money going back to NYR on this deal.

But LA is getting a guy who they only have to pay about $400K cash for the rest of the season. His base salary is $1M and the rest of his $8M this season was signing bonus.

Long term?

For sure they will, that's why he waived.

The Pacific getting stronger this season is good!

Lessens the chances of another fluke run by bumtown.

If SJ, ANA and LA could collectively knock them out of a berth altogether that would be even better.

..unitl the first GM with balls says to a UFA that would sign with them...nope...no NMC...no more than x (< 10) teams and THAT becomes the de facto go to response. (Not expecting that to happen though.)

This brings up memories of Kyle Greentree....the guy the Flames got in a Tim Ramholt trade.
