No way basha would been on the big club. Will take a few years if it happens.

He almost made the team in his first training camp. One of the last cuts iirc.
Looked like a pro.

I didn't think Battaglia would play center after the trade. With Basha, suddenly the Flames find themselves unexpectedly deep at center!

The Windsor Spitfires exact revenge on the Flint Firebirds, beating them 4-1. Battaglia once again gets no points, was a team-worst -3, and goes 8/14 in faceoffs. 44gp/17g/14a/31pts,-6, 41 PIM.
The Tigers are beaten 5-1 by the Raiders, but fortunately- Basha gets a primary assist (and was even) on Liam Ruck's goal, with Markus Ruck picking up the other assist. He also goes 9/20 in faceoffs. 10gp/5g/11a/16pts,-1, 8 PIM.
Hurtig gets no points, and was even in a 6-3 win over Regina. He also gets 5 for fighting with 5'11" Keets Fawcett. 40gp/3g/8a/11pts,+12, 34 PIM.

The production has been great for Basha. Has anyone had eyes on him that can tell us how he looks as a centreman?

2g for Basha tonight, he must be gaining so much confidence back and to do it all at the centre position is great.
The Flames might need to draft a Ruck or two as well

From what little I’ve seen, he looks quite comfortable in both ends of the ice. Even when he plays on the wing though, he’s often playing in the middle of the ice anyway…

No points again for Battaglia, and 6/11 in faceoffs, in a 6-3 win over Sarnia. 46gp/17g/14a/31pts,-7, 41 PIM. He has 4 points in 10 games since joining the Firebirds, but none in the last 4. Flint is 5th-overall in the OHL.
Zeroes for Laing, with 2 shots, and 5 for fighting (against Jonah Sivertson) in a 4-0 win over Prince Albert. 42gp/18g/20a/38pts,+2, 25 PIM. The Blades are 12th-overall in the WHL.
Basha is named 2nd-star in an 8-4 win over Lethbridge, with 2g, 6/13 in faceoffs, and a +3. 12gp/7g/13a/20pts,+4, 8 PIM. The Tigers are 3rd-overall in the WHL.

Yeesh. I'd hoped being traded to a contender would spark Battaglia out of the funk he's been in. Instead his production has dipped even more in the 10 games with the new team.
16yo season - 0.41 ppg
17yo season - 0.97 ppg (drafted by Flames)
18yo season - 1.32 ppg
19yo season - 0.75 ppg (with Kingston)
19yo season - 0.40 ppg (with Flint)

All that playing time and coaching with the Wranglers seems to have really benefited Basha. I know people were a little disappointed he was sent back, but I dont think he really looked that bad in the AHL, he just appeared to be struggling a bit with the strength and speed of full grown adults to me. Hopefully he can put on some strength the rest of the year and come out swinging in the fall, cause boy he looks good so far back in the WHL.

I can't think of a Flames prospect that fell off in a junior league the way Battaglia has.
Lots of guys struggle to take the next step in the AHL or NHL, but to see a guy at 19 revert back to his 16 year old production is crazy.

That would be a unexpected win for our prospect pool because just points wise he seems to be thriving with almost no adjustment factor or am i wrong?
