Well, it's personal choice, but I do have certain standards that I think of, so it's not really arbitrary. Typically, for me, forwards have to be consistently well over PPG, and if not, they have to be like a Bergeron or Datsyuk or Kopitar defensively. Defencemen are similar, except the point total is lower.

How did Stone make it as elite? Was it his one all star game in 2022

I actually do agree Hossa was more in the very good then elite camp for his career. I think the elite definition should be the top 10 forwards and top 10 D at any one point.

Guys like Nylander, Stone, Robertson certainly aren't elite if Hossa isn't though

Stone is usually PPG and is elite defensively. And the dude has 52 points in 36 games this year.

Nylander and Robertson are bubble, but right now they are both on their way to around 100 point seasons.

I think any HOF player in his prime is elite and Hossa is definitely that.

Toews was a Selke type forward, going to be an easy HOF pick.

Seabrook was middling? Not HOF, but was routinely regarded as a top dman.

Saying Hossa was not elite is certainly a bold take. Higher career points per game than Iginla not to mention the 2 way play and multiple cup appearances and rings.

How many more AHL games can Zayne play on this stint?

I think just the 1 against SJ on the 30th, because of the 14 days rule. He was sent down on the 17th, so the 30th is his last day.

I can back off on Hossa and Toews because they are close, but Seabrook was never more than good. He was only a top Dman playing beside Keith. Whenever they were split up he was exposed.

He was just never "the man" on his team like most guys I think of as elite.

And put Iginla on some of those teams and he's going to score way more than Hossa (who also benefited from non-dead puck scoring when in Atlanta).

It’s my understanding that it’s up to and including the 14th day after being sent down, so the 30th and the 31st in San Jose.

I listened to Pat today, and you're right. He checked, and said that Parekh's eligible to stay with the Wranglers through Saturday. So he can play in both SJ games.

I always felt Seabrook was overrated. I watched him a lot in Lethbridge and I was surprised he made the NHL as fast as he did and that he was talked about as a top defenseman and even made the Olympic team. I'm not saying he was trash but I always felt he wasn't as good as he is made out to be.

Sounds like Zayne is starting to light it up in the A.

It’s too bad he can’t keep playing there.

I haven't seen anyone criticizing Parekh's lack of offensive production in the few NHL games he played. In fact, I haven't seen much criticism at all. Not being NHL ready isn't a criticism.

I just hope when they put him back in the line up, they protect him at all costs. The last thing we need is for him to come back in and get injured for a few weeks again.

As much as I want a bunch of these players like Grindin getting NHL time, I think the wrangles need to go on a bit of a run to make sure they get in the playoffs. An AHL playoff run would be good for the kids.

It’s gotta be tough on the Wranglers coaches and full time players to have their team gutted midway through a season. And their ticket holders too.

Does anyone know how this would play out?

Saginaw still has ZP's CHL rights, correct?

If so, IIRC, in the past, once a CHL player's team is eliminated, they can join the AHL. At this point, looks like Saginaw will not make the playoffs.

If that happens, can ZP play in the AHL?

If so, would there be a restriction on availability for playoffs?

After the trade deadline, a player can only be sent from the NHL to the AHL if he was recalled from the AHL after the trade deadline.

Players who are in junior or college can be assigned directly to the AHL after their seasons end, but not if they play in the NHL first. Parekh could only go to the AHL if he was coming from the OHL, which would require the Flames to send him back to junior.

I'm not sure if that's even still allowed at this point in the season. Back in 2015, Bennett was sent back to Kingston on February 21. Unless the rules have changed since then, it would appear Parekh could still be sent back.

Right now, Saginaw is 8th in their Conference, with a 9 point lead on 9th place, so they will likely make the playoffs (top 8 in the Conference make the playoffs). Even if they get swept in the first round, their season won't likely end until the end of March or very early in April.

Bring him up and play him. He needs to figure it out at the NHL level by playing at some point.

I'd go 7D and 11F for a few games after the olympic break.

Less pressure to hold down 12-14 five on five minutes and let Parekh play PP and be heavily sheltered.
