With those jobs you just have to nod, say sorry, and then carry on or else you'd never get anything done. I also did snow removal for two winters in my gap years. Same exact story. This dude is probably working 18-hour-days when it snows. He cannot work around your sleep schedule.
I do get it, FWIW, but having been on the other side of this and running into hundreds of people giving me tips and tricks on times that work better for their schedules I definitely got to a point where I just said fk ya.

I really did think it was just a noisy neighbour initially, and also didn't realize the noise bylaw was suspended for snowfalls. I also highly doubt this guy with a rusty Dodge Caravan is part of a big organization. And condos and stuff I get it, they are gonna have to be noisy.
I'm not going to war, here. I had my gears ground two weekend mornings in a row, and when you wake up at 5:30 every week day, it sucks to be unnecessarily woken up(there was a dusting of snow Sunday) at 6am. It's supposed to be a day of rest! We could be like the Germans, and not even allow disposal of bottles in the recycle bins after 8pm, and on Sundays.
I still think those gas powered leafblowers should be banned though.

Yeah, it's brutal. Very crappy wake-up call.
A guy like that won't have commercial contracts, though, so he's not the one clearing Costco's parking lot. He'll have a bunch of residential customers and his route will be planned out as efficiently as possible to minimize drive time. Start early and go late. He's either waking people up and/or pissing people off when he's doing that at night. Sucks for you, but a person can't bend down over a shovel all day for winters on end and not fk up his back...the blowers are mandatory and electric ones aren't powerful enough.
Your gear grinder is beyond valid, but confronting a dude doing his job like that isn't the coolest move IMO.

Ya, like I said I didn't know he was hired when I went out there. I guess I'll go buy new windows.
And these days, electric are as powerful as gas.

“Every year, there are fewer and fewer reasons to tell people to choose gas models,” says Misha Kollontai, CR’s engineer in charge of leaf-blower testing. “That’s even more true with the advancement of larger batteries and the introduction of battery backpack leaf blowers, which are built for larger yards.”

But keep in mind that the batteries for the leaf blowers we’ve tested charge in 5 to 48 minutes and work for an average of nearly 94 minutes.

A few batteries would probably last a day, get an inverter and charge while you drive around. This menace is on it's way out with technology improvements, so I just gotta sleep it out...

I'd say Fuzz has a valid 'Gear Grinder' but at the same time Sliver makes a cromulent point.
For instance, my office used to have a Dog Groomer right next door and the noise was brutal. I bought noise canceling headphones.
It sucks but they've gotta work too and sometimes noise is just part of the deal.

A blower for snow and a blower for leaves are two different animals.
A super powerful (and ridiculously heavy) battery blower can push 180mph and run for 28 minutes (less in the cold).
Gas can run all day and night and push air at 240mph.
You need way more oomph to clear snow than blow leaves.
And that powerful battery one is handheld versus backpack. It'd be physically exhausting to use all day even if you could afford to buy 40 batteries to keep it running for a full snow-clearing shift.
Look at us always arguing. We're like an old married couple.

I use my electric leaf blower on fresh snow sometimes, and the battery life just dies in the cold. It's got about 15 minutes of runtime in the summer, and maybe 2-3 minutes tops in winter.
I imagine there's better ones out there, but if you're a pro and need to go at it all day, the gas probably make way more practical sense still. I guess you could be swapping out/charging batteries all the time, but the price for tool batteries are pretty crazy these days.

Not going to lie...it did suck. But I really liked the location of my office and...I gambled. I did win.
The thing is...I met with the people who ran the place when I moved in, they were kind of psychos...I mean, it appeared they didn't even really like dogs, but I also predicted that they weren't going to be in business long.
They've been gone for about 5 years now and the conditions are much better.
But it was pretty rough for a while there.

That seems extremely low. In the winter I can easily do my driveway and sidewalks and then some of the neighbours sidewalks as well. I have two batteries, one is a little larger than the other, but either one is enough.
But yeah, if you're a pro and doing like 15-20 places after a snowfall it would be a different story.

Wait? That’s a thing in Germany? That sounds awesome. I’m exploring relocating right now!

It is in Dresden, anyway. I guess I shouldn't have generalized about all Germans being one way. That was wrong of me.

One of my customers works out of their home. They used to have an old dog that was a sweetheart who would come up to you at the door and quietly wait for scratches. Sadly, it passed, and they got a new puppy (lab heeler mix I think) that barks non-stop when I come in, and yesterday it jumped on me resulting in a claw digging into my leg.
I'm still not a dog-hater like you, but this one sucks, and ultimately it's ####ty owners who are the biggest problem.

This. I realize some people here may have massive properties, or a physical impediment where they NEED to use a blower. But for most of us on here, in suburbia and mostly able-bodied in our 40s, you can use a shovel at that hour. It takes 10 minutes, you'll be fine..plus your neighbours won't want to unalive you.
EDIT: didn't realize I was 2 whole days behind in the thread haha, my bad if this topic already ran it's course..

Can we execute these loser zeroes that run red lights when left turns are trying to clear the intersection on yellow. Every god damn day.
They probably don't do that in Germany. The running red part.
