I figure Kadri can go for a 1st in a future year, or (more likely) a 2nd plus any kind of prospect. More if and only if there's retention. If Conroy takes back a cap dump to make the numbers work, I don't count that guy towards the expected return.

Oh boy...I mean believe what you want to believe, but we have been voted the second worst facilities in the league. We're the only team (other than Toronto now) that has lost their stars the past 5yrs...
I don't doubt we have great folks in the organization, but I wouldn't have the Flames even in the top 20 of local organizations, or in the top half of the NHL.

Flames need to play defense, not offense with negotiations.
To make the move happen a bidder has to force their hand. Otherwise, no rush.
And if you move Kadri, I'd say its important to get a young center in return.

I was talking about how they treat people not things like facilities.
I also don't think that the Flames lost their stars because of how they treated them.
I've been proud about how the Flames have handled things like Kylington's issues, Chris Snow, Johnny and his family, etc. And I haven't heard ex players say much bad about the Flames have you?
But never miss a chance to take a crap all over the team you "cheer" for.

I suppose you could just play Frost or Backlund on the 1st line.

Just put the word "essentially" in front of 1st and the 2nd magically turns into a 1st!

That's already been the case this year.

Kadri can be traded or stay. I'm alright with either outcome. I mean if he wants to win, it's not going to happen here during the reminder of his contract. So he will likely be traded.
As for value? I don't know, I'm going to keep my aim low and assume that while a team may want his leadership and experience, they're not going to pay a pretty penny for his contract either. And I think the Flames will use their final retention slot with the Coleman trade.
Which leaves us with a full 7m cap hit with 3 more seasons remaining after this one on a 35 year old middle 6 center. It's going to have to be a creative process to get something for Kads. I don't believe he can fetch a 1st , aim low .

Kadri trade expectations? Similar to the Brock Nelson trade?

Probably quite close yep.
Maybe a bit less should he choose the destination he prefers.

You're a difficult debate if your opening position is the facilities they have to deal with for every game and practice have nothing to do with how they treat people.
As for Chris Snow, Johnny, and no one S-talking the org. Well that's essentially 30 teams in the league in my opinion that do the same. I'm not the kind of person that gives points for not doing crappy things as some type of achievement.
If you want to be proud, be proud. Objectively I disagree and prefer not to hang my hat on this bare minimum metric as to why I'm a fan. For me, it's down to I like Conroy / I like Iggy, nostalgic memories that I made with my friends going to games and civic pride for my hometown. Poor on ice performance I've learned to handle, Peters was a test, the Arena deal being renegotiated isn't something I like being brought up in mixed company...and of course Dube...
If you ever go to Dallas, send me a PM, I'll pay for your ticket to do the tour of the stadium. When you're on the field kicking field goals and touring the dressing rooms I want you to self reflect on how your team treats you.

How you treat people goes beyond the quality of the stadium.
It's what you do day to day that also matters.

That was a haul...essentially 2x 1sts and a 3rd as Calum Ritchie was a 27th overall.

That’s a fair point. If one is going to praise them for their good things you have to acknowledge where they failed
I assume you are talking about them not paying their part time employees at all when the shut down hit. And I agree. That was poor

Kadri to FLA for some kind of package that brings Samoskevich here would be the dream scenario for me. Helps Florida win another Cup and gets us a player who would immediately be the best forwed on the team.

If you can get a decent young FW prospect for Kadri you do it. Anything else is bonus money.
Same with Coleman.

I mean, Florida really needs another center with Barkov out and still uncertain even for round 1 (if they make it at all).
The question is, how the hell would they fit him in under the cap with just Samoskevich going the other way? I don't see that happening, even if Calgary retains.
