Actually, it appears that ICE will be less likely be deployed to red states, so places like Florida and Texas may not be all that undesirable to him.

He can do both - can choose red states plus the states where ICE has been sent. He probably is left with NE states. ICE won't set foot in NY - they'd be crazy to try.

Might have been posted as I don't see a time stamp, but Conroy says they're willing to move players but not just going to do deals to do deals. Looking for players that can come in and grow with this group, not just draft capital, and that's tough to do.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/video/w...ll-for-flames/

He also says that teams, especially in the eastern conference, want to wait until closer to the deadline as they aren't sure where they are at. Figures it'll heat up at the Olympic break or right after.

He's on for the first 15 minutes of this show:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/590/the-fan-hockey-show/

One of the more interesting pieces to me:

At around the 7:00 mark he's asked about having veterans on the team to show the way and says that some teams didn't have that and that can be a problem. He says they need to keep some vets, but then kind of abruptly transitions to say they're going to see what's out there for trades and to look at making the team better.

He also says that the UFA market is going to be weak over the next few years with the cap going up and everybody locking up their free agents so they're really going to have to grow through the draft and development.

I don't know how to tell you this, but ICE is operating in New York state right now:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/public-saf...yc/ar-AA1UdTcR

They're a federal agency. They are required to operate in every state to enforce federal immigration law.

I would prefer to keep Zack. To teach the young guys the right way, but I also think with his reputation around the league of being hard to play against, and defensively sound, he would bring back a mid to late first no problem. Which is why I don’t understand why so many people didn’t like the trade. A lot of people didn’t think we would even get a first for Ras, we have a slight possibility of getting 3 firsts, if thing go right.or 2 firsts, and a second. The teams that were in on Ras, are still in need of a defenceman, and Zack is signed for 2 more years, which bumps the price.

Well of course. But they aren't pulling stuff like in Minnie. And especially not in NYC. Let me know when they actually obey federal law, let alone enforce it.

I expect the inevitable shuffling of minor leaguers via trade. Guys like Poirier and Grushnikov who aren't in long term plans, but may be of some value to other organizations as projects.

I think it was more in reference to the paramilitary/civil war aspects of ICE like their illegal actions in Minnesota. Those won’t take place in New York, Trump is too much of a #####.

There was 1? Maybe 2 posters who didn’t think Rasmus would get a 1st back and I am pretty sure they were the posters who get called out for almost everything they post because they are typically irrational and emotional takes.

It's the Minnesota authorities that have been disobeying federal law by refusing to cooperate with federal law enforcement. Of course you don't know that because you haven't been checking primary sources. But when an illegal alien is convicted of a crime and already has a standing deportation order against him, you are supposed to hand him over to ICE and not release him on the street to cause a chase that will be dangerous to the general public.

In no other state have they been playing this stupid game.

I was someone who said Ras wouldn't get a 1st. I said it in the summer time. I stand by that being the truth at the time. Indeed, people did say it was "irrational" at the time, but those very same posters then (basically) all said that we wouldn't have gotten what we got for Ras in the summer, so I feel vindicated that the position was correct.

I agree with this 100%. Simply signing UFAs to get to the floor will be difficult. Taking on bad contracts to help other teams, is probably the more available path.

Sorry to derail the ICE convo - carry on.

You can't see that there is 50' of crap between 'less than a 1st' and 1st+ 2nd (conditional) + Whitecloud + other body?

Basically, 'less than 1st' is equal to, or less than Whitecloud.

If that constitutes 'correct' for you, I don't know what else to say.

Lol nice spin

They could have gotten a first at anytime. The extras like a 2nd and Whitcloud are significant

I don’t think that position was ever correct. Ras not returning a 1st at any point where he was available is crazy IMO.

Cool, then we should have traded him prior to the season starting.
