Existing transportation routes are expensive, but Belarus has resorted to dumping it at below market prices to compensate. China has been buying up a lot of Belarus' potash in recent years to take advantage of that.

If the US does have a plan (which is far from a given), maybe they figure they can bully Lithuania into allowing transport to Klaipeda where it can be exported to the US at fire sale prices.

Carney mentioned just yesterday that supply management is completely off the table, so the U.S. is gonna be s*** out of luck on that one.

As for the other stuff on that list, I’ve never heard of any of them, outside of maybe the digital streaming thing and the liquor ban. Do any of those things really affect the U.S. at all, other than the booze ban? I’m guessing probably not. They’ve been pissing and moaning about the dairy thing for years, I get that. But it seems like the rest of those gripes are just a lot of random crap thrown against the wall to see if the Canadians cave on any of them.

Its all bull. Canada has those Dairy tariffs because we produce FAR more dairy products than we could possibly consume, it make no sense at all to bring in outside dairy sources in addition to which the 'Big Dairy' cartels would never allow it.

Supply management is a non-starter, so forget that nonsense.

You are correct. It is complete crap being thrown at the wall so the Administration can seem to be justifying their actions when its rather clear that they have no idea what they're talking about.

The interesting thing in that article is it suggests that no Tariff has ever been paid on American dairy and that they aren’t near the Tarriff limit. Now eliminating Tarriff could change that as the market becomes more attractive but it doesn’t seem that it is doing that much as of now.

But that list isn’t terrible at all. Like if that’s their walkway offer which it wouldn’t be that isnt economically destructive to Canada

Also, the liquor thing is an easy fix for the Americans. Drop the tariffs and we’ll happily put your booze back on the shelves. It’s that simple.

I dunno man...some of my favourite wines are Napa Valley wines and since the giant cheeto monster took over I've stopped buying them entirely and switched to alternatives.

And guess what? I've found a lot of them to be better and likely wont be going back.

Tariffs or no tariffs, I think I'm done with them. At least for a while.

I'd be willing to give them all those things for no tariffs on our exports. Supply management is a net negative to Canadians, and the booze thing was a retaliation for the tariffs so once the tariffs are gone you'd pull it anyway. The other stuff doesn't matter.

Yeah that list of demands seems pretty light / easy to meet outside supply management.

Which I’m not sure why people want anyways .
