Haha ok for the record I don't think anyone's suggesting they haven't, or at least they shouldn't be suggesting that.
Just that they have picked this direction, so fully lean into that. Whitecloud is a nice asset, don't let his value diminish by waiting a couple years when the market might be worse and he's a little older. Maximize it while you can.

I would like to see that myself. It will probably take until after the Olympic break to auction him off for a good offer, though. And if instead they keep him and get good value by trading off a different vet defenceman, I won't be disappointed.

Valid, it'll be interesting to see how much movement comes league wide right after the Olympics, like if the GMs are all just grinding over the break and then as soon as the freeze is over you see a big wave of deals.

Zach Whitecloud played 8:38 in the 1st period of tonight’s game. Pump and dump?

Love it. Gimme the defensive D man equivalent of Kuzmenko's 40 goal pace post trade from the Canucks.
9 games of 24 mins a night and then get ready to learn Texan buddy.

He beat the old cliche drum though of "we aren't going to make a move just to make a move".

Conroy on SN says he is open to anything, not just the guys that have been talked about (Coleman, Kadri)
and says it seems things have picked up after the Ras trade. More calls coming in.

I do wonder if Sharangovich could be moved. He's been pretty hot recently, and every team needs goalscoring depth down the stretch

Then you need to get your ears adjusted, because obviously they're doing everything they possibly can to make the playoffs and waste 8 days.
Nothing ever changes, remember?

If Conroy could trade him for anything remotely resembling value I would instantly vote best GM in league in the poll

...but seriously, Andersson was a rebuild trade. It's a pure sellers move.
There's not a lot of debate here in-season to be had anymore. Now then, if we somehow sit here in April the roster is as it is, I think critiquing what transpired or didn't is fair, but it still doesn't change what this Andersson trade was.
But for those on the ol "we gotta rebuild" side of the conversation, and I'm one of the biggest proponents on here for that...I'm not sure what else Conroy could have done to signal it than the Andersson trade. It's clear cut selling move.

It's mid January, and the team is icing the following on the backend:
Bahl - Whitecloud
Kuznetsov - Weegar
Hanley - Brzustewicz
Cooley
and there are people that still claim the Flames refuse to tank. It's mind bottling.

The Flames missed the playoffs by 1 pt last season and this is the first move they made since then
If they were replicating last season success with the same team would it still be mind bottling ? Or does the results of the team dictate whether it is a tank or not
Most people on this board thought the Flames would just miss the playoffs or make in the poll before the season . So the majority of this board did not think they were tanking before the season
In fact - a lot were adamant the Flames would never tank and/or could not tank with Wolf
