The “no extension” means zero to me. Andersson likely already has a handshake extension or will within the first day after reporting to Vegas, which won’t be announced until later to save some egg on the face for Conroy.

At the end of the day, yes that’s the ticket.

…I don’t like that we got back Whitecloud, unless we flip him. If he comes in plays well, it just hurts our draft spot in ‘26.

Friedman: Andersson indicated today he wasn’t signing an extension at this point.

maybe a 2nd or 2nd and a 4th?

something in that range would be my guess

but I would probably guess that they don't look to trade him until next year

Is what it is. Nothing to be excited about but hard to be mad given the situation.

Would be nice to have had a half decent prospect to fawn over. But the Flames have done really well in the top few rounds of the draft lately so we’ll see.

Had to laugh at the people demanding it just happen getting their way. Hope you’re happy at least.

You cannot squint hard enough to turn this into two firsts.

But it's the best Conroy could do with a rental player.
He's a top 4 guy on one of the better teams in the league on a cheap contract.

Even the 1st we got is garbage in relative terms... another one right at the end f the 1st and a ways out. And our 1st from vegas this year will be worse now too. Pretty terrible return honestly. Somehow vegas didnt even in lude a decent prospect? I would have rathered they trade hin anywhere else just on principle.

So we got their 2027th first and presumably the 2028 if they win the cup this year.
If they do win the cup but then the 2027 1st ends up being a top 10 and is deferred, do we get the 2029??

So a first, a 2nd (outside shot at being a first), a throw in D prospect and a 29 year old D man who doesn’t fit the “rebuild”.

Man if only someone had the foresight to see last years TDL was the time to trade Anderson. Conroy got worked.

Hope they learned by now, 2 years of player is worth double. Fact Brandon Carlo got more is what blows my mind.

If there is a positive I will take from this, it's hope that by dealing Rasmus with time left before the deadline, that Conroy will now pivot to trading one or both of Coleman or Kadri (with my priority being Coleman).

I can't imagine the Flames having a quiet deadline again given the time they have available now to make a trade.

My personal view is this was a pretty underwhelming deal. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being a robbery, 5 being even, this was probably a 4 to me. Two key defenceman have been dealt to LV where LV has somehow leaked their interest, and the players took advantage of the humble old Flames bending over backwards to appease players who have been around for a bit (but not franchise players). This happening twice now just means a lesson has to be learned to not wait until a player is in their contract year to deal them. Secondly, we don't have a franchise player. No need to coddle them. Treat it like a business, as every agent seems to not reciprocate. The Flames waited until he played a home game to say bye, and still this happens? Man, I'm pretty annoyed.

I'm just trying to see who I'm allowed to disagree with without getting called a bully.

Your post post was 100% over the top. It should garner a big reaction, but not sure that's allowed anymore.

Don't use "lets be honest" that's suggesting I need to agree with you or I'm lying.

People always have the right to be angly.

Ya they already have an agreement in place.

I would rather Toronto's first by itself than this

They are pretty much hedging their bet with Vegas:

If Vegas goes on a great run and wins the cup, they’ll hope they will crash in 2027 and 2028. If Vegas struggles this year, they’ll hope they are really bad in 2027.
You’re suggesting a 1st and a 3rd is somehow better than a 1st, a 2nd (which could become a 1st), a bottom 4 dman, and a prospect?

That’s nonsense.

Yup, it’s what some people desperately wanted. It’s too bad Andersson wouldn’t negotiate with other teams that pretty much locked them into a deadline return.

So I guess best case scenario is he wins the cup with Vegas, then goes somewhere else as a Ufa?
