I do like this trades for a number of reasons though
1. Headache is gone, having that Andersson was a consummate professional throughout the whole process, he does have pending UFA Rights.
2. Calgary gets a 2027 1st unprotected and a 2nd, more draft capital stock those prospects cupboards.
Nobody thought Winnipeg would flounder like, I like the idea of rolling the dice on that 2027 unprotected, that's good currency in CC back pocket.
3. Not a fan of the whitecloud addition, but he makes very little, in the grand scheme of things...meh

Vegas’ package probably got marginally better since but really, Andersson outside of paying some lip service to Boston to pretend he may sign an extension there.
But yeah, player wins again and Flames are left a bit shortchanged when they can’t afford to lose any deal with their only available assets.
I don’t mind the idea of Whitecloud, as Flames need NHL calibre players as part of these returns to build off of, but a forward would’ve been better or as an addition.

Shocked people are bent out of shape at this. Get to dreaming about potential deals based on people giving 5th hand information from some guy who works in the sales department. Seems like a fine return

Lol, I posted before reading the thread. Seems like I’m in an obvious minority, but I like the return, especially with no extension in place. Flip Whitecloud for middle round pick and Raz becomes 1sts x 2 ( ), ?4th round pick & a C level prospect. No issues with that return.

That’s pretty much exactly what it is. On here and social media you see these amazing proposals that didn’t happen. There’s a reason they didn’t happen.

You can say that this is a disappointing return given the circumstances... but the Flames are the only ones responsible for putting themselves in this situation.
Andersson should have been traded last year when sellers where getting unreal prices at the deadline.
Instead, we get a worse return than the Leafs paid for Carlo.
This organization needs to make these decisions sooner. Enough dishonesty. This was an obvious outcome, one this organization and GM have seen before, and could have been avoided.

No C prospect coming back either. Not exactly overwhelming.

Vegas was never going to pay for an extension. They will extend him like Hanifin.

People always dream top prospects. Those dont happened often
We don’t know the outcome of this trades for years depending on how Conroy drafted
Right now it looks like a fair standard TDL trade
And yeah we need Whitecloud for that playoff push

even if he isn't traded this year, doesn't mean he isn't traded in the next 2

Not as good as I was hoping it will be, but it is what it is.
I don't fault Rasmus. He signed a sweetheart deal that underpaid him for most of that time. He had the right to either go where he wanted, or set himself up to test the UFA waters.
This will mean 2 firsts in 3 straight years. I like that.
Was hoping for a better return but not going to lose sleep over it.

This isn't a terrible return. Classic CP over reaction. Especially for the ones who just wanted Ras gone and didn't care about the return.

Weibe is a 7th round pick, must have needed to drop a contract because that’s a very odd throw in.
So essentially Rasmus for a very late 1st.
|
As mentioned you're ignoring the 2nd rounder.
But the most logical answer is that Boston wouldn't proceed without an extension negotiated, whereas Vegas is OK to risk the trade without one in place knowing they'll either pull a Hanifin and extend him shortly anyways, or else just eat the trade cost of the rental.

Management team / ownership full of buffoons doesn't learn any lessons and fails to maximize asset value yet again.
Fully expect this to continue with Coleman and Kadri
