Silver lining I suppose is he would NOT have gotten that this off-season IMO.
But the BOS offer looks so much more enticing all the more now

Will be curious to see if they flip him at the deadline. If they don’t, the mandate from the top is for this to a very short ribiggle.

This tickles me as getting the absolutely worst value picks.
If Vegas wins this year, then the return on Hanifin is 32nd overall -> making that trade worse.
This is some kinda bull!@#$ as a Flames fan. We literally have to cheer for one of our picks this year to be worse in order to secure a better pick in 28.
It ain't easy being a Flames fan. We get kicked in the nuts every season.

Lmfao some of you guys have absolutely absurd expectations if you’re disappointed by getting a 1st and a 2nd that can become a 1st for a rental defenseman.

They won’t win the cup, so that condition is useless.
Whitecloud is aged out of our core years already, he’s 29 and meh.
Weibe is a 7th round pick, must have needed to drop a contract because that’s a very odd throw in.
So essentially Rasmus for a very late 1st.
|
And a late 2nd. The 2nd is better than Miromanov so better than the Hanifin trade. Nothing like some of the returns we saw last year at the deadline unfortunately.

to me, that has to mean that if they win the cup this year, we hold their 27 1st and 28 1st (along with their 26 1st)

I'm trying real hard to be objective but uhhh..... A 30 year old d man, a NCAA D man and a 1st a year away and a conditional 2nd is..... Not good. Not even a Forward.

I’m guessing they like something about wiebe specifically as he plays with 2 of our guys at ND and they likely know a bit about him - not saying he’s the centerpiece or that this is defensible to be clear -

Flames got a 1st and 3rd for Hanifin. They got a 1st, 2nd, and legit NHL player for Rasmus. Seems fine to me?

100%. Inability to pick a clear rebuilding path has diminished our returns and therefore our ability to become competitive. We are maybe among the worst asset managers in pro sports. It’s appalling.

Markstrom got a better return since the 1st was mid-round. Bahl had more upside than Whitecloud.
Maybe because Markstrom was not a rental, and they timed it better.

It's clear that the rental offers were likely a first and some stuff Conroy valued less than a second round pick.
