Yes, income tax is owed where the income is earned.
But that is one of the reasons the players like bonus money. If you get paid bonus on July 1st, I am fairly certain (not 100%) that you would be subject to tax based on your residence at the time.

Basically a mini free agency with bonus of having the extra contract duration.
If I was his agent thats the scenario I would have pitched Craig.
Everyone wins.

This is exactly what I would be trying to do, if I were Andersson.
The problem, it seems, is that no other teams have, as of yet, posted a firm offer to convince Conroy to allow them to talk to Andersson.

He’s the belle of the ball and interested GMs are too shy to ask for a dance. Standing around stone cold munching like Poindexter.

Except for the mystery team that seems to have halted everything upon arrival. The entire Bruin rumour mill ground to a halt right after the rumour of the "new team from the west" entered the conversation. I am guessing that team is now talking to Andersson as well and their team is a lot less leaky than the Bruins.
Now, was it a new team entering the conversation (Ducks, Mammoth, Kraken) and did they offer a C that beats out the Bruins offer? If so, I hope they offer Andersson a contract he can't refuse!

Yes, taxes are a function of where each game is played.
Again, this is a reason why bonuses are desirable.

Still only one source reporting this, but I really hope it's true. Having two teams talking to Ras would in all likelihood be enough to achieve an agreement.

Yeah I think Andersson is milking this just a little too much, like it's his own personal free agent frenzy week. Gotta think CC is probably getting a little annoyed by this. Free agent frenzy week is nothing like this, players grab a seat at the table, before there are none left.
I think CC should just trade as rental, this Entire situation is revolving around to the player agent positioning teams against each other leaving CC kinda helpless, I would not like it if I was in his shoes.
At a certain point just trade as a rental, this is kinda turning into a side show, IMO, but if patience gets a better return then so be it, I do wonder if patience is starting to thin

So Conroy should just accept a lesser return (rental), because these negotiations are too hard?
I do agree however, that Conroy may force Andersson to #### or get off the spot soon. But if so, it's then on to the next teams, not throw in the towel and take a rental return.

Why wouldn't they all wait until free agency and get him for free? I understand he can help now like a rental but if they are gonna throw money and term, roll the dice and see how the deadline/draft and free agency settles out. If hes only going to accept offers from one or two teams, why waste assets?

So I'm not totally shocked after finding out there are other teams also pushing hard that this is taking longer. Was told the reason other teams have not gotten permission to talk to the Andersson camp regarding contract is because none of those teams have come to an agreement on a trade for the player which Conroy wants in place first. Boston had tabled an offer that both sides agreed upon so they were allowed to try and negotiate a deal. I'm just not sure if Andersson is enamoured with Boston.

Which is fair, but how does Andersson view Vegas any different? They will be on a decline very shortly as well. Petro is done, Theodore seems injury prone, goaltending is suspect. You have Marner who is Notorious for being a ghost in playoffs and have nothing in prospects for next 3-4 years.

Because only one team gets him. Any team waiting for July 1st is pretty much guaranteed to miss out as he is going to get traded to a team that also wants him on July 1st but will get to negotiate 5 months early while also being able to offer him an 8 year deal.
Waiting = Failing.

It's one thing to deal with modified trade clauses, etc, take my opinion for what's is worth, I don't think Andersson is willing sign with anyone except Vegas, unless it's an obscene amount of money, which really means, he wants to play in Vegas. I think behind the scenes the agent is probably trying to get Vegas to up their offer, and they probably have a price point because they can always just sign him as a UFA in the offensive, which brings me back to CC just trading as a rental, because not sure this tactic is going to work
I think he is using this to his advantage, which is his right, and if that's the only team he wants to sign with, so be it, he can roll the dice on that outcome in the offseason, if that is truly what he wants.
