Yep, that was my point. It's not a very connected fan base for the most part.

I fully embrace the tank, but going to the game with the family this afternoon...it's way more fun when we win.
Also great when the Jumbotron caught my daughter's sheer joy and my son:s utter disdain for Taylor Swift during the sing along

Cuz they don't follow Dreger's twitter or something? 90% of people in any sports building are not following these things. Our view is skewed from being acutely tapped into Flames news.

He did his goodbye without the fans, but that's okay, it was always about the teammates and the memories within the dressing room and on the ice.
Flames fans have never been great at that stuff, as many fan bases aren't. Montreal, Edmonton, New York, Chicago etc. There's a few special places for stuff like this, but most are just cookie cutter, come to the game, drink beers, entertain clients and have an outing fanbases, that's where we fall.

To be clear, that was 3 stars after he already hugged and left the ice once. Fans wouldn’t have known he would be back out shortly for stars. So many fans who knew and would have cheered already were on the concourse leaving

Good team effort. I would have gone crazy if Wolf scored. Andersson will be missed, I hope we get a haul. Undefeated with Golden as the goal song.

When Cammalleri was traded back to the Flames it happened about an hour before a home game. I remember the dome was buzzing and there was a Cami! Cami! chant going.
I suspect not many people knew Andersson is about to get traded, especially with the game starting at 1pm. Not everyone wakes up and looks at CP to see the latest rumors.

Nothing will ever...ever...beat the Conroy trade.
LA rolls into town and...he just switches dressing rooms.
That man is a goddamned treasure.

Need another losing streak here.
We aren't getting passed by Vancouver, they are broken, but if we can at least finish second last it guarantees a top 4 pick.

And I don't think this is any different than a lot of fan bases. Especially in an afternoon game with a lot of families.

Yeah, fans are aware. This idea that the Calgary fanbase is less aware, just doesn't fly for me - all of the Canadian fanbases are VERY aware of the state of their teams, as it's the only show in town here.
The fact that it was an afternoon affair would have changed the dynamic substantially though - afternoon games are where STHs pass their tickets to people who want to bring their kids.

also, we are so smart and in the know we thought he was traded Friday night...its Sunday and he still isn't traded. Might play more games, who knows.

I don't think it was just baseless speculation though.
There were a couple prominent Flames media members that thought this was done Thursday night too.
The contract seemed to throw a wrench into that.
I do think it's fair still that it's a bit surprising for him to be playing games with the Flames while negotiating with another team on a contract

I think a fair number are generally aware he will be traded. Not everyone was following the story like this and thought it was the last game.

Sure. But the original argument was that Flames fans are much less aware than other Canadian fanbases, and that '90% probably had no idea'.
An assertion I don't buy.

sure its just funny, we are so smart and in the know that we have no clue what is actually happening. I'm glad I didn't tell any casuals that Ras was traded to Boston Friday night.

He is by far the Flames best non D prospect.
Great skater. Tons of patience. Makes great plays. Dangerous offensively.
He looks like he’s 27 or 28 but he’s 19.
Seems like he’s pretty confident as well. Good sense of humour. I hope they don’t send him back down.

I was at the game, in some great seats on the lower second deck.
IIRC he had two goals. Legendary.
