Hey Conroy!
Scorp’s massage is probably done about now, so we’re all good for you to announce the deal now.

I think the Boston deal was agreed upon based on the players involved, but was based on Andersson signing an extension which hasn't happened yet.

If this new team has brought an even better offer forward then I would guess that they are now also getting access to put their extension offer forward to Andersson.
This is really a best case scenario for both the Flames and Andersson to have 2 serious teams that are putting up solid trade offers and contract extensions. No one can lowball because they are the only suitor in the mix.
Then it will just be a matter of Andersson and Conroy picking the winner.

I don't think people are getting worked up, maybe getting a little antzy but that's understandable with all the noise around this right now. I usually don't read too much into the small tidbits we get from insiders on here, not that I don't trust their sources but there's always alot of moving parts and they'll often throw out the caveat that there's nothing imminent yet. But usually when you have people like Lebrun and Friedman pretty much confirming what the insiders on here are saying that's historically been an indicator that things are very close.
Anyways, I spent most of the day yesterday on the couch watching hockey and refreshing this thread in anticipation of some news. But I'll be out golfing this afternoon and trades usually break when I'm not online so that's promising!

You're right I'm angsty. I told my buddies two days ago that Rasmus is traded/about to be traded.
How dare they reveal that I'm a fool.

I can tell you with great confidence that the impediment to this process now is solely the player's extension talks or lack thereof. Basically we're on Rasmus' timeline now.
Frameworks for deals exist with Boston and atleast one other team (SJ i believe) however Boston is the only one negotiating at this time.
Ask from Andersson camp is $9M+. Not sure Boston is willing to pay that. So I can't tell you how long it will take so I would just go enjoy your Sunday.

Unfortunately it seems like the Flames will miss out on some pretty decent returns simply because Rasmus won't extend with certain teams, which is not surprising. My bet is the Bruins deal will fall through because in the end they won't be able to come to terms on an extension. Ras might want to extend there, but it's possible they won't agree to his contract ask.
My guess is after all of this, he'll end up going somewhere as a rental for a late 1st and some mid prospect. Then in the off season he signs with Vegas for less than what he was rumored to be asking for from other teams. Vegas gets their guy on a lesser contract without having to give anything up in a trade.
And while we're happy we got a return for him in a rental trade, we get to ruminate over the speculated returns that were leaked during this whole process and the better prospects and picks we likely missed out on.

It's like being told dinner is coming and then waiting for 5 days while you starve.
In all fairness, the fact that it's taking longer should mean good things for us!

Maybe other teams see the rumored accepted offer (1st + Lohrei + Poitras), which is basically mid 1st + 2 young tweeners and are calling Connie saying "i thought you said about 2 1sts and a 2nd value? We cant beat that but we can do 1st + 2nd + 3rd value". Lol

Andersson is playing a very dangerous game of cat and mouse, John Klingberg says hello, 8*8 seems like a fair offer or even 8*7 to be honest

Not to mention that the Flames will be engaging with their pro and amateur scouts…and potentially capologists.
Wolven is correct here; it is better for everyone to have more than one deal on the table. Both sides can leverage/guage the deals that are on the table.
Entrants would complicate in the short term but better for all (except the original team); hopefully the new team made such a good offer that it caused everyone to do a sharp intake of breath!
I’d like to also offer a thought on Vegas. I know that we are in a connected world now, but how is it that Vegas doesn’t get caught tapping these players up? I feel that teams are negotiating with one hand tied up whenever Vegas is mentioned.

I fail to understand how this is a difficult negotiation. Either he wants to extend or he doesn’t. Either Boston will agree to his contract terms or they won’t. How this can drag out for days is hard to comprehend.

No I'll will towards as Andersson but if signs with Vegas, hoping Vegas completey face plants next year, befitting to that self entitled organization

I kind of feel the opposite, though hopefully I'm wrong. A part of me thinks a handful of these deals were close to fruition but pulled back due to what others suggested, in that Andersson might not be wanting to sign off. The longer it goes the more it feels like he wants Vegas exclusive and that the deal to be made will be to ride out the rest of the year whereafter he'll head to Vegas as desired.
I have nothing to go by, just where my thoughts seem to have taken me during these past few days. And really, if he signs as a rental somewhere and the return is hindered, I'm not terribly upset by it all the same. I feel everyone involved is obviously doing what's best for their own situation: Andersson, Flames, Team X, and the end result is simply going to be the best everyone could collectively land on with restrictions and conditions jointly on the table.

The same can apply to pretty much everything heard about what management thinks, what ownership wants to do, etc. etc.
At the end of the day, even if posters don't like the return, it can't be said to be unfair. Because it looks like it came from an extended period of bargaining with multiple suitors. So, by definition, it will be the market price.

With you on this one, does seem to be dragging on way to much, at the same if it's a better return for CC, than all the power to him, take your time. I do wonder at which point this starts to become a distraction, the last week or so, the distraction level IMO has ratcheted up.

Ya, heaven forbid the player take some time to figure out what the next 7-8 years look like for him and his family when weighing signing a contract now vs waiting until the summer....

My guess is Ras is asking for the Dobson deal 8 x $9.5M
But due to his age that's a tougher ask.
My guess is it gets done eventually for 8 x $8.5M, but that's just a guess
