I really think the main reason people are a bit impatient is that we have heard a deal is almost done for 4 or 5 days now. Heck, even Steinberg said he sensed a deal would be done by Saturday and that was on Tuesday or Wednesday I believe.
Obviously everyone understands if there are complexities it is going to take longer. But I don't think you can blame people for asking why a deal is not done, when we have been told it could happen today for 4 or 5 days now.

But fans impatience is not, and should not, be the concern of the Flames nor Andersson. So what's the point of getting so worked up over how long this is taking...?

Sure you can ask but is the answer not obvious?
There are several things that have to fall into place
- the two teams have to agree on a deal
- Rasmus has to say he's open to extending
- And then Rasmus and the other team have to actually agree on a contract.
It's one thing for him to say he's open to signing now with the acquiring team, but this is a large deal, likely 8 years in length. We should not be surprised that it could take a bit to agree. And as I said earlier, I suspect Rasmus wants an overpay to bypass actually hitting the market.
So in the meantime the Flames have to be thinking through other offers, both with and without an extension, in case this one falls through.

Because then you're gonna have the possible arrivals of Potter and Reschny and potentially the 26 1st rounder they take if he's a center.

Poitras may be ready now but Letourneau looks to have a higher potential ceiling but will need more time to mature and build muscle on that big frame.
Even if it takes Letourneau 2-3 years to be ready, if his ceiling is higher then that is the better choice for the Flames.
We really do not need to acquire a guy that is ready now if it means taking the lesser option. Our forward group is still overloaded in spite of lacking in top end talent.

I am not worked up. I am just saying it is understandable that people are asking why it is not done.

No new info from me what's not already out there, but I can confirm that the rumoured Bruins deal is real. Flames and Bruins agreed on the deal and then Andersson started talking extension, which is when it was leaked

Maybe my memory is bad but I can’t recall a trade being this drawn out with announcements on HNIC that included the type of detail Friedman disclosed last night including mentioning the team in the driver’s seat and the identity of the other teams involved. Maybe though usually this happens in the crush of deadline day without the spotlight.

I just want to know the offer that Sec heard that he got unusually excited about. It's living in my head rent-free right now.

I’m happy about this. Learn from your mistakes, Take your time, create as much demand as possible, max the return. Have to gamble a bit but I get it. You have to definitely have a giant set to properly see it through though.

Because those statements are / were based on “rumours” or “hearsay” etc…not FACTS. So someone “heard” it was close from someone who “heard or thought” that. Doesn’t make it real. Good for chewing over and discussing…but don’t ever think it’s real until actually announced.

This is also a good reminder to those you are already worrying that a Coleman or Kadri trade may take an equally long time. For those two players the process is much more simple:
1) Get offers from teams that meet Conroy's price
2) Get agreement from the player to go to that team
Neither player is in a place where contract negotiations are a concern so the process will be much faster once a team meets or exceeds Conroy's price.
Also, if Conroy lands the C he wants in the Andersson trade then he can focus on picks, LD, wingers in the following trades. That should make the trades easier to negotiate.

I wasn't pointing to you specifically about getting worked up, but many are. Why? We have no idea what's actually going on behind the scenes. Regardless of "insiders" saying it'll be done by X date, Conroy isn't beholden to that. Maybe it was looking like Ras was going to sign with the Bruins? Maybe another team came in with a better offer? Maybe Ras and his family wants to look deeper into the cities before making a decision?
The point being, the trade will be done once Conroy feels he's gotten max value for the player, given the offers and circumstances. The arbitrary "before Olympic freeze" doesn't mean anything if Conroy feels the Flames can get a better offer closer to the trade deadline, so why get so worked up that it's dragging out a bit longer?

Well and also part of it is you had a Twitter guy who had broken lots of things in the past say a deal was done. If you look at this thread after he posted, a lot of people were talking like this was a done deal.
I was a bit skeptical because no legit insiders had confirmed it, and sure enough it was wrong or they jumped the gun.

So, which team do you think it is and what do you think they are offering that would garner that excitement?
My hope: Andersson + extension for McQueen straight up!
Do you want to do the Kraken or the Mammoth?

Boston side must have thought it was done and Andersson changed his mind or he is still debating. He will still get a 1st and B prospect at the deadline as a rental though. It would be fun to have something to discuss. The Markstrom trade was pretty messy as well.

Can easily see how the trade is "done" and agreed to and rumor gets out, but it depends on Andersson signing.
