I feel like the Flames are finally getting a bit of good fortune and also making moves in a very good year, the timing is really working for them - there are only two teams in the whole league more than 7 points away from a playoff spot so there are so few sellers and many bubble teams desperate for a taste of the playoffs willing to buy.

Don't want to count chickens as he could refuse a deal and the return could crater but I agree that if that Lohrei/Poitras/Leafs 1st return is for real and he signs an extension that's an absolute home run return and puts the rebuild a year or two year ahead, another draft pick in the teens would be massive, and the Flames own draft pick will certainly be better without Rasmus - and after that deal is done teams are going to swarm for Coleman with Calgary one of the only sellers, two cups, on pace for 25 goals, term left - you try not to get your hopes up as the flames have a way of disappointing over the years, but it's easy to see the flames getting another first and a mid round pick or second tier prospect.

I really hope Gridin shows well over the next week or two because I feel like it will help flames mgmt feel more confident the right move is to trade Coleman.

At this point, as long as the return is decent I am hoping for anyone but Vegas.

Those guys don't deserve to get another good player who they didn't draft. It really annoys me that they are in on everything, simply because every player wants to go there.

I wonder about Anaheim as a dark horse team. Could bring in Andersson and let trouba and goudas walk and let him be the anchor on that defence with the young guys. They have some decent assets as well and a good coach and young core. Could be their Gaborik/Hossa deal

He's arrived yesterday late afternoon. Had a game to play today. Give the guy some time to think about where he's going to play and live for the next 6-8 years of his life. I'm not surprised that it's taking some time.

He may not even end up signing with Boston. It's not a guarantee.
Can confirm this part here. Boston is not the first choice.

EDIT:

Ask on the AAV starts with a $9.X ….

Agreed. F Vegas. Doesn't seem like they have a good prospect pool either. And all of us tourists think VGK is such an amazing place to be.... Maybe if you are pre-marriage and kids, but as a young player that also leads to massive temptations and distractions. I guarantee any player with a wife (and kids moreso) don't bother with the strip, once they live there.

I had a buddy who moved to VGK (gaming industry related) after he had a wife and kids. They never went to the strip. Just existed in their local community. Hot, dry, not glamorous.

It's obviously an inferior example, but how many flame players with wives and kids go partying downtown or 17th ave? Or wherever the kids party these days? Yes I'm old...

Boston is not his first choice or it’s not the first choice for the Flames/Rasmus from the teams that made a legit offer?

Said it before and I’ll say it again. He’s always wanted Vegas and he’s going to Vegas

I remember when he first broke into the league, seeing him play against Calgary, he was super impressive. His skill-set and size are unique.

He was drafted as a 19 year old and has been a slow burn...I believe he is a late bloomer with less miles on his odometer than most. Similar to a Giordano or a Weegar - the best is yet to come with him.

I remember wanting the Flames to trade for him two years ago. I still want the Flames to trade for him. He is a middle-pairing D who could thrive in the right environment. Plus, it gives Wolf a red-headed friend so they won't feel too left out.

Make it happen Craig!

The only way I would be ok with him going to Vegas is if the return is their 2027 1st, 2026 2nd, Trevor Connelly, Jakob Ihs-Wozniak or Tuomas Uronen. That’s the rental price to Vegas. Even then I am not sure I would do it. I am not a fan of any of those prospects.

Vegas are the Dodgers of the NHL, I hate them so much!

How do so many "know" Anderson's preferences as to where he plays?

Because they think Vegas holds the Magic Mind Control Ray now and every player will refuse to sign with anyone else.

Wow...does like every single player in the NHL want to know play for Vegas, wow. Having said that screw them, the have almost all their second round and first round picks from 2026-2028 minus the 1st 2026 pick they traded.

If I am CC Vegas pays a premium, or else I am just trading him as a rental, someone should at least you a first round, that has always been the center piece of the deal, the prospects that are thrown in are just to get it to the finish line, it's going to be that first that you hope will be a mainstay player for you down the road

Las Vegas :Andersson signed to 8 year extension
Calgary: 2027 unprotected, 2026, 2027 2nd round picks

They have the draft capital, and that's the cost, or I would simply trade as a rental to another team, if you keep on bending over backwards to Vegas, you will become nothing but a glorified farm team

I’ve been told it won’t be VGK via (direct) trade.
Maybe he’ll sign there in the offseason, but unless VGK can up their offer dramatically out of thin air, it’s not happening.

The only reason they continue to be mentioned is because he’s said previously he’d be open to signing there. Nothing to do with the market today.

Vegas seem like pretty damn meh trade partners based on the value of the return, bruins aren’t that far ahead in that regard either. Definitely keeping expectations low here. Just hope it gets done already.

This feels like the longest “it’s very close” a trade has ever been. My goodness.

I would be super excited if Sec’s rumour could be shared.
Really want something new here to discuss

I like the idea of Seattle as a dark horse but the return would probably by Sale and a pick or two. Wright definitely not available, neither is O’Brien.

I am not sure I have seen Sec so excited to post a rumour. So feels like it has gotta be someone good

Well good news, hoping we get that Boston return, but being very cautious in my optimism.

Royle, do you know which teams he will sign an extension with, or is this looking more like a rental trade
