Using the Google maps measure distance tool, the shortest distance from T-Mobile to the entrance of the casino at MGM Park is 155 metres. From where the entrance to Scotia Place will be to Cowboys Casino is approximately 130 metres. Edmonton has both Calgary and Vegas beat, with the casino attached the arena.

Of course, if you're an NHL team, you probably want to stay far away from any player for whom the proximity of your arena to nearest casino is a deciding factor.

The thought did occur to me that Conroy might stall as much as possible to see if any other teams jump into the mix.

Standings are tight and Boston is currently in the 2nd WC spot. Some team around them might want to try and an one-up them.

NYNY's Casino is at the front of the building facing the strip. You have to walk up through The Park promenade to get to the doors to the casino. Park MGM Casino is set back from the strip thus making it closer to the arena.

Just so that I can wrap my head around where we stand right now. Boston has a close enough of a package to get to talk extension with Andersson. Vegas is going in with a rental price, figuring that they can sign him afterwards. Everyone else is on the fringes of a deal.

Does that sound about right?

All I can think is that both teams are comfortable with the risk and didn't want to scratch guys to draw even more questions to the situation
