Lohrei may be putting up more points (along with his massive -43 last season) but Kuznetsov seems way more defensively capable and is already playing bigger minutes.
I guess the plus side is that Lohrei is really replacing Hanley / Bean on the third pair and not Kuznetsov on the second pair...

Hard to get excited about a guy who's four years younger than the guy were trading way. Lohrei turned 25 today, not seeing any reason for excitement around this player.

Right? If I have learned anything from CP in the last 8 months is that a massive drop +/- in one season means a player has no value. There is no room for any other conclusion.

He would be an extra in the trade not the main piece. 25 isnt old for a dman though. Kuz is almost 24

Kuznetsov and Lohrei were from the same draft but think Lohrei was an overage
Lohrei has had good offensive seasons with 33 points last year and on pace for 36 this year.
He has good puck skills...I think it's an okay risk to think you can teach a guy who is 6'5" and 220 how to defend at least adequately

Lorhei is #6 among Boston defenseman in total and 5-on-5 ice time, and #3 for PP ice time. The amount of points he puts up is pretty reasonable for the amount of ice-time he gets.
I am sure there is a reason why they don't use him more, but given his age he might still have some growth as a player. I definitely wouldn't say all defensemen peak at 25.
