Tbh, I don't think he's the most connected guy here. Maybe third most.

I usually just wait for Royle to weigh in. The bonus is no riddles. But it's fine if some people enjoy that.

Confirmation of the Leafs pick is what I want to hear...that would be a huge get that I don't want to be too excited about until confirmed

Time for the hockey gods to come through for Calgary.

Vegas falls apart, misses playoffs, pick becomes top-10.
Toronto pushes for playoffs but misses, finishing 16th.

Vegas wins first lottery, moving to 1st overall. Toronto wins 2nd lottery, moving to 6th overall. Flames finish 2nd last, getting pushed to 3rd overall with Vegas moving up.

Flames draft 1st, 3rd, 6th overall, plus a late 1st from a Coleman/Kadri trade.

I don't think either Andersson or his agent would have taken a 6-year deal, unless it was for the same total money (and therefore a much higher cap hit). Nobody can force him to sign a deal that he doesn't want to accept.

Everybody pretty much understands that these deals are going to be wasted money at the end, in exchange for a lower cap hit up front so the team can have more talent on the roster at one time. Except the Oilers, of course, who think 8 years is what you give Trent Frederic.

Keep in mind our insiders rasta, sec and royle probably have their own sources that may be around most of the "office hours" day that aren't necessarily around for after hours/late hours work like this trade stretching past midnight.

I'd imagine Conroy has a bigger team around him at 3pm on a Friday vs 11pm where it may literally just be him, Nonis, Maloney and Edwards talking and approving.

Cheering against Toronto even more than I usually do down the stretch will be extra delicious if true.

Thanks for asking. I defended Poitras a while back, I like him. He’s a good all-around player, who can drive play offensively, while playing stalwart defense. He is a bit hard-nosed and gritty, and has a very high playmaking IQ. He’s useful, even when he’s not putting up points. Not bad size- he’s 6’0”, and someone said he’s put on strength and bulk, which is good, but I still wonder if his skating has come up a notch- he used to lack explosiveness.

Not a bad get, though I have to admit- I was excited about landing one of Detroit’s youngsters….

Probably a better first though which in a few months is a new youngster...assuming this is real and we aren't just debating nonsense lol

I don't have thanks to give, but thanks for weighing in with the assessment.

Who were you hoping for from Detroit?

Having Tre's first would seem like justice...I think he was a little reckless with the Flames knowing he had one year to go

Bruins seem to be in the middle of a siblings trip which is awkward timing for Lohrei and his sister if the trade is true.

For me, the biggest part of this deal is grabbing the Leafs' pick here. They can realistically drop enough for the Flames to get a franchise-level player in the draft. With all the hand-wringing about McKenna and Stenberg not being centers (ok, very mild hand-wringing at best), and with Lawrence not being so productive in his switch to the NCAA (I didn't check tonight's scores yet), he could fall to the 6th-10th range (and not to mention Bjorck and Malhotra!

Imagine coming out of the draft with one of McKenna or Stenberg, and one of Lawrence/Bjorck/Malholtra/Verhoeff (seems he is dropping)... That's a monumental shift for this organization.

Come on Leafs, just stink it up. You know you are a mid team without any gumption. Just give up!
