Pick is about as good as possible (at the moment)
players both have massive upside IMO
I keep saying if true this is a very good trade...as good as anything realistic that had been posted

Don't think it was mentioned yet but wasn't Lohrei the one that hurt Coleman in the Bruins game last week
He will get ribbed for that for sure

His agent has likely gauged the market, along with whatever discussions they’ve had with teams during these trade talks.
We don’t know the final numbers, but it could just be that teams don’t see Rasmus as a ~9 million per year defenseman. If that’s the case, then locking in 7-8 now is good.

8x8 seems like a good deal for Rasmus honestly
Nobody else could give him the 8th year if he went UFA and even in that case only some bum team might go 7x9 or something

Also,
Andersson signing for 7-8 million is Boston but not Calgary is kind of a head scratcher if true..
I thought that was the ballpark Conroy was willing to work with?
Maybe the issue was term.

Love the guy, happy the Flames didn't give him that contract

Somebody posted that earlier this week, maybe Sec.
The $$ was never the issue, Flames and Andersson couldn't align on term

I'd have done that at 6 years. 8 is too long for a guy who will be 30 at the start of it.

I would have been fine with a 2027 pick but having three 2026 picks does give Conman ammunition to try and move up and get a second higher pick. Say a guy like Lawrence starts to drop or if you need to move up to get a guy like Bjorck

Given that I have no faith that we win the lotto, I'd be very happy with drafting Stenberg and Bjorck in the first round after a 2 for 1 trade to move up.

Don't be so hard on yourself; quoting you doesn't necessarily make a source worthless.
AI-generated articles in general are worth very little. I certainly don't put any stock in anything that hasn't got a real human byline. I just find it amusing that they would bother reporting on the NHL in the first place.
I do find that they have some value as a source for news about Asia, since their biases are their own and not the filter of ‘only America is real’ (either for good or evil) through which so many English-language news sources see the world. Their reporting on the recent donnybrook in Iran, for instance, was done by real human beings and quoted statements by people from Asian countries that the Western media mostly ignored.
I wouldn't even be aware that they were covering this story, but it came up on the first page of my search results when I was checking for any reports beyond the level of rumours. Alas, I found nothing.

I like the Bruins... they are the team I cheer for in the East. So that works out for me wanting to cheer for Andersson post-trade. Cheering for him on a division rival would have been much harder.
But I agree, the Bruins are in a precarious position. Just last season they blew a tire and finished 5th last. Adding Andersson will help their fortunes but their future does not look as bright as the Sharks / Ducks / Mammoth / Red Wings will with their prospect pools.
Very interesting.

One thing for those that want to cheer on Ras...assuming its actually the Leafs pick you can cheer all you want without worrying about it hurting the pick.
Win the cup (I doubt it) but what do we care. Actually a Leafs Bruins series with Ras fighting to help the Flames pick would be fun.

The biggest thing here is the first-rounder. Another mid-round pick could be MASSIVE.

Hopefully this is true... if one of those teams misses the playoffs with Ottawa losing their pick that could easily be low teens and be a real building block. Usually the picks in these deals are like 15 slots lower. Throw in a decent puck moving dman and a good prospect and thats a great haul. Poitras is an excellent passer and I think would do really well with a shoot first winger like sharangovich. Letourneau would be a solid add too and my first choice other than hagens which isnt happening. I dont know if he will be top 6 but pencil him in as a 3rd line or at worst a 4th line center for a long time.
It would be one of the better hauls for a good but not elite ufa in a while that I can think of. Will be fun cheering against the leafs too

Am I mis remembering or were Rasmus and Zadorov not a really bad fit as a pair?
|
You're misrememberering. Zadorov played with Gudbranson, then Weegar/Stone/Stretcher.
Andersson played with Hanifin and Weegar, while Z was here.
