LOL. You can blame Wolf for that! Also if Marky and his agent weren't playing games at the trade deadline I think Wolf and Vader would have gotten us into the playoffs.

anyways thank god he is gone!

This rarely happens for the Flames.

They had an abundance at one position and dealt from that depth to address other needs.

Now they have a younger and potentially better starting goalie, as well as a very good young defenseman and 1st round pick that they didn't have before.

I'm hoping this continues to happen going forward for years. The way Cooley looks on the farm, they may be able to do this again very soon by dealing Vladar, although the return won't be as significant as it was when they dealt Marskstrom.

I'm also hoping they are able to start doing this with Dmen soon. I guess already kind of did, they dealt guys like Tanev and Hanifin last year and haven't really missed a beat with additions like Bahl/Miromanov/Pachal. With some solid D psospects developing in the system, they will hopefully be able to recycle some of the older NHL guys for more futures when the prospects show they are ready to step up.

That's how good organizations should be ran. Trade older more expensive players for some futures while they still have value, and replace them with cheaper up and coming younger homegrown players. Rinse and repeat.

Winger too.

Toffoli, Managiapane, and others out...Sharangovich, Zary, Pospisil, Coronato in and with Pelletier, Klapka, Honzek and others still on the farm and Gridin, Basha, Battaglia, Suniev having promising seasons.

They probably have more opportunity to do another wave of this on defence too with Poirier, Kuznetsov (Who has taken a step this year), Brzustewicz, Parekh, and Morin coming up as prospects.

The pipeline looks strong...we really just need to add some young centers outside of Kerins and Morton (and if Zary sticks at C that will help a lot).

Definitely should’ve been pulled at the 6th (early 3rd period) or the 7th goal, which was about halfway of the 3rd done.

The last two goals were within the last minute and a half and 26 seconds apart.

Keefe certainly tempting fate there as nothing good could come out of keeping him in net for the entire game. It's all negative from the bad press, player isolation, players in the locker room talking, etc. Not the way to unify a team and he should know better especially after succeeding Babcock and what happened in Toronto.

Good. Pay for your sins against the Oilers in the playoffs.

Watching all the goals on NHL.com, I would have pulled him on the 4th one - that's the first real 'should have saved it' goal.

He wasn't good, but going through that and watching all 9 goals against - the Devils are atrociously terrible at defence. They sucked as much as he sucked last night by the looks of it. However, yes, Markstrom was indeed terrible. I wonder if Allen was sick? Playing through something? You don't leave your goalie eating 9 like that without a good reason. I bet Markstrom really regrets moving to the Devils right now.

However, I am fairly sure that Fitzgerald probably regrets the trade (Bahl + 1st (Reschy)), and probably already regrets the extension he just gave him. Markstrom looks like he is aging-out quickly. The Devils remind me of the Flames early on with Jonas Hiller. Allen is an expensive backup, and I think that's all Markstrom is at this point now too. That's one of the issues that plagued the last Flames' rebuild - no suitable goaltender.

Flyers were smart in grabbing Vladar. If Cooley keeps this up through the next season (and if Say or Sergeev continue doing well/improving), it wouldn't shock me to see Cooley moved for a generous return (probably not a first though). Decent goalies seem to be in short supply.

The Devils wanted him to do a Patrick Roy and request a trade to the Swedish Elite League.

and it looks like the Islanders scored a minute in.... so 1st Shot Mark was in true form! hahahahaha

Trade looks even better now from our perspective. Allowed Wolf to step in, brought in Bahl and hopefully Reschny develops nicely.

He also got us Parekh with his pathetic play that year.

To his credit I thought he was left out to dry on 7 of those goals. Definitely his fault on 2 of them.

In his 74 games as a NJD, Markstrom's got an .895 save percentage. Same as he had the season prior to the year the Devils traded for him.

Edit: over the same period there, Jake Allen has put up a .907 save percentage in 66 games

I think Bahl continues to look better and better, cool to see some progress and a great example of that old-timers philosophy on how long it takes for defencemen to hit their stride.

I known Bahl was always perceived as being physical, but I think he’s layered on more aggression and general meanness to his game this year.

I wasn’t a massive fan of him last season, but what I’ve seen this year…Bahls deep. Love having him under contract going forward too.
