They might have won this POS division if they ran with Cousins from week one. Or, they are the Falcons and Cousins would have been a bottom 3 QB to start the year instead of his usual 15th best QB, and they would still finish 8-9 with Penix coming in late to supplant Cousins. I agree its a talented roster, but it feels like we've been saying this about them for years now.
Basically, the Falcons are a unique blend of a poorly run management team + mediocre coaches that can only win in non-pressure games + elite at meaningless games to cost draft position/scheduling & keeping coaches they shouldn't (Raheem should be gone either way, but watch this run keep him alive).

I don't think that's DPI on that play.

That does seem to be the only explanation, yep. I don't know enough about the organization but if you say so, I don't doubt it.

Cam Little making a 67 yarder outdoors with ease, looking forward to him making an 80 yarder some day.

I just can't help looking at this and thinking, you have Bijan, Drake London and a solid O-line (doesn't need to be world-beating) you should be able to do at least a Temu version of what the 9ers do with Purdy and McCaffrey. Obviously not just anybody can be Kyle Shanahan but it just always seems to me like the Falcons should be quite a bit better than they have been the last couple seasons and it must come down to development and coaching.
|
Yeah check all his offensive weapons today, with their season stats (spoiler'd for possible size). TE Juwan Johnson is the only regular starting weapon left, haha it's a horror show. And now LT Banks dropped, so down to 2 starters lol. Saints also start slow every week, they're at their best in the 2nd half. But this week may be too steep a hill to climb in that regard, with what they're working with..
Yeah Falcons are an enigma. Always have elite offensive weapons, but never get anywhere. I swear they build their team like a fantasy roster: just load up on skill position players and ignore the trenches.

It's going to be pretty funny when some team tries to run the clock out by kicking off short of the end zone with like 5 seconds left, only for him to take a shot at a fair catch kick from like the 25 yard line.

If I’m the saints I lose today. Who cares who wins the division. Take the 4th place schedule for next year.

But a Saints win means the Bucs are a non-factor next year with Bowles back as coach. It's basically free money for the Saints right now, can't lose either way.

100%. The only caveat is it's against the Falcons. If the Flames losing the final game of the season is a 5 team swing up the Draft standings, but it's against the Oilers, it's a conundrum. Want to go into the off-season losing to your arch-rival?
But frankly Saints fans / team probably have more hard feelings towards the Bucs than the Falcons this decade, so letting them down is a nice feather in your cap on the season.

Bowles is gone regardless.
I wouldn’t care about losing to a rival if it affected the next year.

I mean all the rumours right now is Bowles is back regardless of playoffs or not. Maybe leaking that cause saying you're gonna fire your coach when you still have playoff life isn't the greatest idea, but the Bucs are also not well run so keeping Bowles with another division title against the worst division in sports would be incredibly on brand.

Vikings have had some serious comedy at QB this year between Nine and Brosmer.

Happy for Myles - not unfair to put 17 game asterisk on this.

Wow... do the Texans cover the spread with that TD? If so, a lot of upset people right now...
Edit: nvm, spread was larger

They are injury riddled and first round fodder. That organization goes through this every year, might be time to fire your entire strength and conditioning trainers. Something is wrong there that they have that many major injuries every season.

Divisional winners making the playoffs is just stupid anyhow, an 8-9 team not only makes the playoffs but gets a home game? Just really stupid.
