Niners could get the Bears who they just beat, or the NFC South winner which isn't a good team, so they could win a round maybe. Defense just not good enough to get much further than that.

Barely beat the Bears. The also lost to Tampa and from what I remember the game against Carolina wasn't very convincing for SF.

Also noteworthy, the Seahawks finish the year with 3 losses by a total of 9 points, and 2 of the 3 were against divisional opponents who they also beat. So exactly one team in the NFL has a winning record vs Seattle this season and they shouldn't even be in the playoffs.

They probably needed this bye the most to try and get Williams and Pearsall back plus rest guys like Purdy, CMC, and Kittle. If they have these guys somewhat healthy it's an offence that can be good enough to beat anyone else in the NFC on a given day. But its nearly impossible to win 3 straight against other good teams with a leaky defence.
It's likely down to the Seahawks, Rams, and Eagles in terms of teams who can win the NFC.

Hoping for the Packers at 7 seed, they've got their redemption game after that disastrous loss to Chicago.

The Chiefs and Raiders might play a 4-2 game today with each team trying to get the last possession so they can concede a surprise safety to end the game.

There are a couple of interesting wrinkles in this NFC South comedy fest conclusion today. For one, the loser gets a last place schedule next year. Probably matters more to the Saints since Moore is a lock to be their coach next year and Raheem has basically no job security, but if Raheem has been told he's back next year he would be incentivized to lose today too. But, Raheem did get fired by the Bucs, and that might be the determining factor as he looks to stick the knife in, although if the Falcons win and Bowles gets fired then Raheem would be doing the Bucs a huge solid.

This Saints vs Falcons game is already sloppy: just trading stupid turnovers. The Saints offence only has 3 starters left from the beginning of the season, this is a mess.
Hilarious how much this game matters on the OOT, I'd be dying if my team's playoff fortunes rested on the outcome of this thing.

Come on Giants! Get to 4 wins!
Also - go Ravens! Browns hire Tomlin.

If the Browns want to get Myles the record they are probably better off running no offensive plays, just punt it back on first down and get Myles maximum opportunities.

I do like that for three of the four teams with playoff hopes still alive today that they have the "hopefully it gets our coach fired" backdoor to root for. Only Carolina fans have just straight vibes to cheer for.

I haven't watched them in weeks because why would you, but I was given to understand that the Saints had turned it around and were looking like a legitimate football team. I was misled. The Falcons actually look legitimate - not, like, good legitimate, but they have some dudes on offense especially Bijan, and the defense can cover people. It looks like an 8-9, 9-8ish team.
The Saints kinda look like they screwed themselves out of the draft position they probably deserved by playing over their heads against some fellow denizens of the basement.

You are forgetting that since 2018 the Falcons, once mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, are absolutely elite...
When in contention: 53-78 (.405)
When eliminated: 12-4 (.750)
...pretty much sums up Atlanta Falcons football lol.

OK, that's certainly a weird stat, but just looking at the product on the field in the I think four games I've watched them this year, it does really seem like if they could just get a solid game managing QB to take care of the ball and get them into consistent 3rd and manageable, they have a good foundation to build from. I guess they were hoping Penix would be that guy? Maybe it's Mac Jones...

Or continue to score on defence and keep offence off the field.

Saints offence has 3 starters left, you're basically watching Shough out there with a practice roster. He's been leaning heavily on Olave, who's out today too. It's been so sloppy.
If Shough somehow pulls a W out on the road with this goon squad, just give him the OROY right now.

Ok, I'll take your word for it; I wouldn't know the names of half the Saints starters even if they were out there. I just figured they were giving different guys a chance and going with what stuck, rather than losing everyone to injury. So maybe it's actually a competitive division next year with four non-contenders trying to fight for 9-10 wins? I dunno.
I just can't help looking at this and thinking, you have Bijan, Drake London and a solid O-line (doesn't need to be world-beating) you should be able to do at least a Temu version of what the 9ers do with Purdy and McCaffrey. Obviously not just anybody can be Kyle Shanahan but it just always seems to me like the Falcons should be quite a bit better than they have been the last couple seasons and it must come down to development and coaching.
