Frederick and henrique were really good players before they got oil on them. Eat Bread just a casualty.

I'm of the opinion that the Oilers offer was well above anything else Mangiapane had. Thank God the Wizard only gave him three years at that absurd 5.83 price tag coming off that freak season. He will be on PTO's once this deal ends.

I still think trades are more likely after the Olympic break, especially if it's true that cap space continues to accrue daily during the break. I expect almost all of this season's trades to take place between February 26th and March 7th.

Serivalli was adamant he knew for certain that the Flames wanted the Rasmus file dealt with before the Olympic break.

The general rumour out there also is that most teams would like to make moves before the Olympic break as they know it's a very short window between the Olympics ending and the trade deadline.

2027 1st + Mangiapane for Future Considerations and we'll rehabilitate him.

Time to speculate - I wonder if Tampa would be interested in bringing back Coleman. Looking at puckpedia I'm not too sure of their current cap situation, it says they have 6 mil in cap space but I'm not sure if that's due to guys being in IR. But after watching this Sam O'Reilly kid at WJC and knowing that he used to play for the Oilers I'd gladly take him on as a return/part of a return solely for the chance that if he does turn into a solid NHLer we can enjoy the Oilers tears.

They have 3 D on LTIR. Otherwise they are over the cap.

I would want to get more back for Coleman than just O'Reilly. Throw in a 1st and you've got a deal.

Thanks for clarifying, that was my assumption. Looks like none of those injuries are season-ending, so in theory they would have to retain on his contract and likely get an even better return.. but at that point I'd wonder how worthwhile it would be for Tampa.

O'Reilly and a 2nd would suffice. *maybe* a conditional 2028 2nd/1st with their if they won the cup in either 2026 or 2027. I don't think they're good trading partners though, considering they do not have a 1st for the next 2 drafts and don't necessarily have any cap dumps.

Dallas would be a better target to trade Coleman. 2027 1st for 1.25 seasons of Coleman at 2.45m.

Man, I would love it if it happened, but I can’t see us getting O’Reilly AND a first.

I’m sure he has had time with McDavid but, when you consider the adjustment that’s made in virtually every third period, he probably only gets to play on a line with him for at best 2/3 of a game. Add in the fact that the oilers run the first powerplay unit for 1:40 of every 2:00 powerplay and Mangiapane is getting every fewer opportunities. I agree it’s a little bit hyperbole on my part but I think it’s pretty common at this point for players to sign with the oilers thinking it will be a great opportunity and it fizzles out since the oilers always revert back to the McDavid with Draisaitl for half the game setup. The rumour was that Howard was willing to sign with Edmonton because he would get to play in the NHL this year and likely on a line with either McDavid or Draisaitl. I’m sure no promises were made but I bet the idea was used to sell him on being willing to sign.

I'm just looking at minutes played with everyone on the team. McDavid is, I think, his most common linemate this year. Overall, I imagine his total minutes are down from previous years because of what you correctly point out. And when your minutes are down you score less.

McDavid has to play 30 minutes a game...he's probably everyone's most common linemate. E=NG

I'll be surprised if the Flames can get much more for Coleman than what they paid for Calle Jarnkrok. Wingers his age typically don't get premium assets in deadline moves if they're going to play down on the roster. Maybe a late first if they eat half his salary for all of next year. But even when he was moved for that previously....he was a 27 year old back to back 20 plus goal guy. Today he's more of an established 15 to 18 type with playoff experience and 34 will be 35 next year. So I think the Flames do well to trade the Coleman of today for what the Devils got for a younger version of him.

Flames aren't going to trade Coleman unless its for premium assets

he is also on pace for 24 goals on a low scoring team with mostly defensive starts and PK not PP minutes

Trade Coleman for picks and prospects

Trade Kadri for picks and prospects

Trade Ras for picks and prospects

Trade Hanley to the Oilers for Mangipane and a 2nd

All 4 trades you add picks and prospects and Mangiapane would get more time here if we trade Kadri and Coleman.

Move Zary to center.

Yeah if your offer for Coleman is a 2nd it's not worth trading him.

IMO he's just as, if not more effective now than he was at 27, the goal should be getting something similar to that and it was a 1st + back then
