This particular moron was blocking the narrow entrance to the checkout line. Should have been more clear in my rant lol.
The main entrances to Canadian tire and Safeways all seem to funnel you through theft prevention one-way gates now. The checkout lines are also set up like tower defense pathways with all the shoplifting I guess.

Bought a new microwave a few months ago and it's really grinding my gears. Kept it like the last model for familiar purposes, Panasonic Inverter which I had for maybe 10 years. Almost identical set up and my use case is very limited, literally just heat up food for 2-3 minutes at a time, no defrosting, cooking or special feature options.
The unit continues going into some weird limp mood where it requires an unplug and a complete set up again, including the child proof features and electronic locking door. I literally can't figure out how this is happening and it's driving me nuts.

Getting sick on day 3 of holiday travel. Healthy for the in-laws… sick now for the fun stuff that would have been.
2025 can f right off.

I also had to buy a new Panasonic microwave under similar circumstances. On one hand, I was happy to see it was dimensionally the same as my 14 yr old one so the trimkit still fit the new one. On the other hand, it made me realize that the underlying guts and technology of the thing hasn't changed in 14 years, other than being made in a lower cost center and the price doubling. Paying $450 for a 1.6cu ft vs $198 for a 1.2cu ft also RGMG given the small lift in size.

"Its cold!!"
Yes. Its December.
"We tried going skiing and we're FROZEN!!"
Yes. I'm sipping coffee by a fire and about to spend my day watching hockey. Dont whine to me if hurtling down a mountain in December is cold. I distinctly chose not to accompany you because that seems miserable.
Now you're miserable. Not my problem.

Its one of the perks.
Which we absolutely need because, as an industry, we are never going to live that commercial down...

Ohh the new one feels and sounds sooo cheap. It closes and just feels like an aluminum piece of foil. Since I posted that, we had a power outage and had to re-program this thing yet again. I literally have needed to reference the owners manual no less than 8 times to get fix settings.
I am tempted to go and find a used turn dial beauty from the 90's. What a joke

Facebook marketplace buyers are the epitome of time-wasters. Guy makes an appointment with me to see the vehicle we're selling on the evening of the 26th (last night) back on the 24th... even has me call him because he wants the car so badly.
As we're driving back to Calgary (so I can't immediately respond because FB Messenger doesn't allow dictation over CarPlay), he says he can't make it because "we are having people over for my wife's birthday". I've been trying to accommodate this dude the whole time (calling him while with family on Xmas eve especially), then this excuse.
You f-cking git, you just forgot your wife's birthday happens on the 26th of December every year? Clearly an excuse. Just say you aren't interested anymore and move on.

I was just at my dad's laughing that he was on the second microwave of his life(his current one is a Panasonic from about 1996) and I've been through 6.
Most of them are now made in the same few factories with the same fatal flaw. Three contact switches are mounted on a plastic holder to detect door closure and latching. They must all be in agreement for the microwave to start. The plastic holder has been cost reduced to within a nanometre of functionality. As the plastic parts wear, the likelihood that one switch holder flexes enough to make contact after the other two increases. When that happens, it doesn't just do something rational like fail to start. No, because a logic chip costs pennies and they are not going to do that. Instead it sends line voltage to all three switches, and whichever are closed fuse(essentially welded by the voltage and heat). These switches cost a few bucks, and you can replace them, but if you don't find the right plastic holder, it just keeps happening. Most people don't even go that far and just throw it out.
Anyway, after discovering this I found Toshiba uses a different factory and I hope a different method. 1.5 years and still working...but it did cost more. I'll be OK with that if it lasts.
Oh hey, it's a bit cheaper now.

It does have the buttons setup for quick restaurant style orders, so some might not like that.

Facebook is getting bad. I spontaneously received three messages for a table, that up until today has received zero interest at all for over a year, and all of the buyers look sketchy. If your address is a different city than Calgary, or you claim you're from Calgary yet not photos at all from even Alberta, just blocking. I don't even feel like engaging at all.

We've got the Panasonic 4-in-1 model and it has been pretty good, but I agree with the safety feature overkill. Trying to pop some popcorn and I realize more than a few kernels were still unpopped, so I put it back in, but got thwarted by the "hot inside, please wait" control lock out. Which of course doesn't give you any indication of how long that will take, just have to keep guessing.

My dad uses the snowball method to trick his hot tub sensor when it flashes OH and won't reset until the temperature drops below 100.

No, he has it plumbed to a gas hot water tank, and if the tank temp is set a little high it comes out too hot for the tub sensor to jive with. I, uh, had it too hot. I think it's 105 or 106 that triggers it.

If a hot tub isn’t at least 104, what’s the ####ing point?!

Ya, it's °f on the display. It could be hotter than 106, I wasn't watching because I was drinking a beer by the fire.
