Makes Kings older, but they're still in a "win now" mode. Likely buys them a couple years of contention.

Not that we need more RHD... but have always liked Clarke, despite his occasional brain farts. Not totally sold on Byfield, either, when I watch him I'm left frustrated by his game. He's a middle six C, not a #1 C in my mind.
No. That is too much.

What we paid in terms of price in 2021 in SJ would probably get a 6000-7000 + square foot home in Texas, Ohio (I picked those 2 because we have friends in these states and that's what they bought size wise) etc. But the quality of life, weather and location is what you pay for as well.

Not even Wolf since they have Askarov
It starts with Parekh+ I think for sure.

Man is frustrating being a flames fan when it comes to have centers to build a team around.

You watch teams.like the sharks have a 20 year contention window with Cs like Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Pavelski, etc and now as they rebuild they fall ass backwards into Celebrini, Smith and Misa.

Meanwhile here we are hoping Reschny will defy the odds and develop into the next Daymond Langkow.

Suzuki was traded for a 29 year old forward who was going to become a UFA at the end of the year

Branstrom was traded or a 27 year old forward who was going to become a UFA at the end of the year

Boqvist was traded for a soon to be 27 year old dman who was going to become a UFA at the end of year.

Savoie was traded for a 25 year RFA who had two years left of team control

So 3 rental players. Geekie was not traded for a rental and Dach was traded for picks.

So half of them were traded for rentals.

Not sure if it is every night, but the Wranglers had a "6-7 Cam" at the game on Sunday. My girls and I were on it. They were VERY excited...(they are 7...).

Funny thing is all but Suzuki have been complete busts so maybe those teams knew something when they traded them?

All those trades had contract extensions a with them. Stone and Pacioretty were first line players and Jones was a top pair Dman. Will Andersson who has been a first pairing Dman at times warrant that return if he signs? I sure hope so but am not setting my expectations that high.

I said the numbers 6-7 last day in conversation and my kids burst out laughing. And they were trying not to.

I posted in the other thread with the Bean injury but wanted to try and spark some conversation

I think we are setting up for the following Top 6 (in no order) by the end of the year, which would be a great mix of young players with Weegar leading the way. I still think they will need one solid veteran defender to round it out.

Weegar
Parekh
Brzustewicz
Kuznetsov
Bahl
XXX
7th dman (Pachal?)

... for another veteran defensemen, here are some options in Free Agency:

Carlson
Burns
Hamonic
Schenn

.. personally, I would love to bring in Brent Burns for a season.

Sure I was responding to a report that the Sharks were interested in Rasmus if he signed an extension, which is the exact same as half the situations I cited where former top picks were traded shortly after they were picked.

Pacioretty was a 60 point a year forward. The year before he was traded he was 137th amongst NHL forwards for points per game. In a 31 team league that made him a second line player.

Rasmus this year is 22nd amongst dman in PPG. At least in terms of offensive production that makes him a top 2 dman minimum.

As for the busts it probably speaks more to how much prospects are overvalued in some parts vis-a-vis players that actually have a proven ability to produce in the NHL. Most prospects are busts, having 67% bust out is not exactly unheard of.

Young millionare athletes don't live in the zombie areas or care much about the cost of living...San Jose and Oakland may be close but they might as well be different countries.

I don't think we will see a trade before the holiday freeze. I know it technically does not start for a couple days, but I can't see us trading someone right before it.

There has been like 2 trades in the entire NHL this year so probably a safe bet

Funny I'm the opposite....I love LA and dislike SF. The weather in LA is much more pleasant and consistently so (weather in SF is kinda weird), you have cool car culture (vs tech nerds in lame EVs), better entertainment, the homeless situation isn't (quite as) bad, plus it's closer to Palm Springs/SD which I love. People are perhaps more vapid, but hey, they look good! Plus you don't have to listen to tourists calling it "San Fran" all the time.

Having said that, I'd take living in San Diego over both.

Was there not a rumour a while back that we had interest in this guy? With Bean going out long term, I wonder if we see a claim.

You might. Assuming Rasmus gets traded at some point the Flames have Miromanov or Grushnikov as their possible call ups for the 7th dman position that would open up with Rasmus moving (assuming that Rasmus does not include a NHL dman in return). This would also assume that Parekh may be going back to the OHL. If Parekh stays in the NHL they would actually have 7 dmen and would not have a gap.
