They don't necessarily follow prospects like we do, they tend to have considerations like pay, taxes, lifestyle, arena facilities and the people they know of who are on the team. As far as team futures go - Rasmus knos they have Celebrini and Eklund. He knows Toffoli and probably Wennberg, Liljegren and Klingberg.

Andersson definitely does not need to know the details of the trade and it would be crazy for GMCC to tell him. The only thing Andersson needs to know is the contract being offered to him within the framework of the trade.
If he accepts the contract then he can find out about the rest of the details after the trade is finalized.

Put more context on who and when those players were traded and you will see why they are not dealt for 29 year old rental players or 35 year olds.

Both can be true.
SJS probably just lobbed a low offer over. My guess is that constitutes most of the noise/chatter around Ras. Lots of soft interest from around the league but no one has the sack to get serious. Yet.

If you remember, Royal did say back in the summer before the draft that the Sharks were intent on upgrading their RD. Their first choice was Ekblad and their second choice was Andersson.
Even with their moves to sign Orlov, Klingberg, and acquire Leddy, I do not think that is enough to eliminate their need for Andersson. Now that they are sitting in a playoff spot in December they can consider making moves to upgrade RD.
Orlov-Andersson
Ferraro-Klingberg
Dickinson-Liljegren
Leddy-Mukhamadullin
That group immediately looks better simply by pushing Liljegren and Klingberg off the top pair.

Suzuki was traded (with Tatar plus a 2nd) for a 29 year old 65 point LW on an contract that had one year left.

I'm not discrediting Oilfan at all, very well could be true.
Just not what I've heard this season so far, I wanted to share my follow up.
The California nix is the weird one to me, why not the Kings but yes to Sharks?
Seems odd, but things happen/change.

The Sharks also have 5 UFAs on defense. The only players sticking around are Orlov, Mukamadullin, Dickenson and Iorio. They have to be thinking really hard about how they are going to support Celebrini and Askarov.

And they are still using Mukamadullin and Iorio on a platoon.

Not so odd to me, though obviously I have no idea what Rasmus cares about when making these choices.
But having spent time across the major California cities, I would put LA last on my places I would be open to living in, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY below San Diego, San Francisco or San Jose.
Obviously I'm not including other places like Sacramento. I also would not live there.

100% this. LA isn't for everyone. I know a few players who had the Kings on their no trade list.

Yeah I'm guessing the Sharks would have no interest in the trade offer going to a third party either, not only could it upset the players involved but leverage in contract negotiations as well.
Looking at the Sharks blueline the other night it makes a ton of sense for them to cash in some futures for a good player like this. They have more forward prospects and picks than they will be able to play at the NHL level and focusing on quality NHLers over mass prospects and picks makes sense at this point. And it's undeniably a nice place to live if you have money there.
Seems like the boilerplate deal when you're not getting screwed over like with Hanifin - for a sign and trade with a player who is considered a borderline all star like Rasmus is roster player, 1st, prospect. The flames have a long history of burning some of the value in the return on a mid 20s roster player they can plug in rather than just taking a plug, and the sharks will need to send a body out as they have tons of dmen. Orlov is their only decent NHL level Dman, and Mukha is tracking toward being a key piece. Dickinson would probably be the whole return if he was on the table, but it's hard to see with them having drafted so few dmen at the top end, I don't see a lot coming behind him on the blueline.
Not really a lot of quality NHLers after that, one of Ferraro or Leddy will be disposable though pretty useless to the flames beyond a year or two. Cagnoni is interesting if they really want to roll the dice, but it's hard to see how he fits long term as another small not great defensive defenceman with Parekh and Brz penciled in long run.
Then you probably get offered the Oilers 1st, and the quality part of the deal would be in the forward prospect - seems most likely to be the quality part of the deal as they have so many. You'd expect the Flames to be able to pick from their second tier of recent later 1sts/2nds in Musty, Lund, Chernyshov and Bystedt.
With the Flames lack of centers I'd almost take Lund and Bystedt together over the Oilers 1st, but Chernyshov and Musty both look like quality scoring wingers at the NHL level based on how easily they've transitioned in to the A.
He's not a high end prospect but another guy I really like is Eric Pohlkamp if they could get him as a sweetener, he's gotten better every year since being drafted and he's starting to look like he has a shot to be a decent NHLer, his offence is really good, and he's got a little bit of bite to his game kind of like Rasmus.
It's not a really exciting package to get a late 1st, Lund/Bystedt/Musty and a weaker roster dman, but it's way better than the garbage Vegas paid for Hanifin. If the Flames could somehow get Dickinson or the Sharks own first as teams get a bit more eager and up their offer, it would actually look really good like an initial home run, even though obviously seems unlikely.

I could see how San Jose could be much more appealing as a city than LA.
The young core they are piecing together looks great too. Deep down the middle, have a legit starting goalie who is young, and a couple young dmen to build around.

Eh, everyone has their own criteria.
I think if I had my own lets say 10 team no-trade list, it would consist of;
Edmonton
Winnipeg
Anaheim
Detroit
LA
Utah
St Louis
Buffalo
Pittsburgh
Nashville

Yeah mine would be similar, Minnesota, Jersey and maybe Ottawa would be there for me instead of Nashville, SLC and one more.

it's hard for me to say because I feel like context is important.
Am I trying to get ice time and break into the league? Am I a superstar looking for a cup? Am I a young prospect or on the backend of my career?
Even if your Rasmus it's hard to see how he sees himself. Does he think he's a bonafide top pairing and want to be "the guy" with PP1 time. Is all he cares about a cup and doesn't mind being the clear #3 on the depth chart?

I think Minnesota would be a decent place right now with Wallstedt breaking out, Kaprizov locked up long term, and now Hughes. They’re a contender for sure

It is all subjective as I have visited California a lot. I personally would HATE to live in the Bay Area. Worse weather, zombies all around downtown SF, Oakland is a dump and the cost of living is horrendous. Personally I think Southern California is far superior to Northern California but it is all a matter of opinion.
