No naval gazing there. They accepted reality and set about changing it.

They still are an older team with a lot more vets signed long term. One good defence prospect and a 2C aren't doing it. Even if they finish last.

I wouldn't mind LA circling back. Brzustewicz, Greentree and George all are more interesting pieces than what teams like the Stars could offer at this point.
Would also be cool if some of the teams that didn't land Hughes came in for him. Washington has drafted pretty well, Detroit has tons of assets. All depends on Ras and an extension though.

Man, if Buium was on the table, would have given them Andersson.

Flames went one direction with that deal to try to keep their window open and we saw how it played out.
Canucks went the other direction and are using it to signal the start of a rebuild.
Many fans use the Tkachuk deal as what should have been the start of the Flames rebuild with a futures heavy deal. The Canucks just did that so it will be interesting to see how things play out.
Either way I also feel like the Canucks were a lot more proactive in the scenario than the Flames have ever been with stuff like this.
|
Ok I see what you are saying. The Canucks are playing fantasy hockey and doing it well and the Flames can't adjust when a bad situation is thrown at them. Hopefully that was more Treliving though, see what he has done in Toronto and you could make a case that it was.

The Canucks made one good trade for a guy who wanted out. Before we anoint them rebuilding geniuses perhaps see why they had to trade Quinn, who they just signed in the last two off seasons and who they acquired just last year, and what their team still looks like. I mean, in the last couple seasons they signed/extended at least 6 guys who are approaching or at 30 for long term deals.

Now a GM has said it for the first time that I can recall in a statement. But I hear you, you think trading a 12th overall pick for 28 year old dman, trading a 4th round pick for a 34 year old, all moves the Canucks made this year are rebuilding trades for the rebuild.
|
You said rebuild is never said by any teams and guessed it was because of financial reasons. A couple weeks later you were proven dead wrong. Trying to explain or loophole your way out of this is only going to be a more embarrassing look.

He wouldn’t have been on the table for Andersson.
26 year old franchise player has significantly different value than a 29 year old solid top 4 guy

Yeah, maybe Bishel instead. Agree that Bourque may not be the most enticing piece to be thinking about. He is, at least, a RHS forward, something the team could use now and perhaps going forward.
It’s not the most exciting package. I’d like to think some team out there would beat that, guess we’ll find out in time.

Wait, werent you and JayRandom a couple of dinks to me a few weeks ago when I didn’t look at usernames? Hmmm seems pretty hypocritical Lionel. Maybe you should be a little more agreeable around here.
And man for a guy who won’t be responding to me from a few weeks ago, your 10+ responses since sure are convincing everyone. It’s like the KISS first final farewell tour over here lol. See you tomorrow baby.

They will need a lot more prospects and picks to accomplish that.
Would still rather have Wolf, Reschny, Potter, Parekh, Gridin, Honzek, Suniev, Hunter B and Coronato than Rossi, Buium, Öhgren, Cootes, Willander, Lekkarimaki.

I ain’t embarrassed at all. You routinely come on here and disclose that you know sweet #### all about hockey. I encourage you to continue to post and disclose your ignorance about the sport. Having village idiots like yourself post is a vital part of a free and ill informed debate.

absolutely. Canucks got a couple of great players yesterday, and I think Cootes and Willander have promise. But they don't have any depth in their prospect pool. They don't have anything substantial from the 2020, 2021 and 2024 drafts, and they haven't added a ton in the other drafts either. It certainly shows when you look at the prospect pool.
Plus, I think people forget that the roster is still kind of a mess. Some of their decisions in the last couple of years and some of the contracts they handed out will haunt them for a while.

Im not really sure why it’s ok for you to call me an idiot, seeing as how you were just proven dead wrong lol. I guess if your opinion lines up with Bingo’s you’re in the clear for ad hominem insults.

Well you use that language for almost every poster, I just reserve it to for you. Randomly calling a top lawyer in the city Lionel Hutz is just par for the course for you. I just assumed that that type of language is how you communicate. Apologies if it is not.

It’s not randomly I started calling him Lionel Hutz, this was the response I got from him in a previous argument
