I think Kadri and Andersson are gone and Coleman makes a trade hard

I think you’re likely right about Kadri and Coleman, but I also think the return on Coleman could surprise a lot of people, I think he would be coveted by quite a few teams.

Coleman is a 20 goal scorer. Gritty. Can play the pk. Built for playoffs and a prior cup winner. In a reasonable world he should fetch a 1st.

Danielson seems a bit pie in the sky to me. I’m skeptical Yzerman would move a young C. Especially for one of the Flames vets. I would imagine if they would entertain moving Danielson, he’s likely looking for a Drouin-Sergachev like deal.
I’d love to see it but I don’t think it’s going to happen.

This team is also flush with left shot wingers and has some other wingers pushing for a spot. Coleman could move at the draft but I think he will be in very high demand at the deadline.

Yes, from a positional standpoint, and contractually, Coleman may be the player they may want to move first between the two.

I agree that the deal would be unlikely because Danielson is likely an untouchable asset for Detroit. Just saying, for Calgary to give up all 3 of these players to one team, I think it would take that level of young player/prospect in the return.

I know everyone hates the Oilers but McKenna is not in the same class as McDavid, no need to put that pressure/expectation on the kid

I honestly just want to see him in the playoffs on a deep team for my viewing enjoyment. I was a big fan of Coleman before he came to Calgary. He could legitimately help put a team over by making a 3rd line absolutely relentless and productive.

I’d be happy to see any/all three of Andersson Coleman Kadri in the playoffs. It would be good for them, good for the Flames and good for the fans.
Let’s go, Craig! Full rebiggle. No half measures. Let’s get these guys gone by the TDL.
On another note, listening to Flames Talk yesterday, sounds like Wes and Pat think there could be some smoke around Pachal as well. Teams were showing interest before he extended.

I agree. I think Coleman's return will be close to Kadri's as his contract is much easier to take on and the Flames may be ok to retain salary on his deal vs Kadri's deal at this point.
Ras will be traded, but Coleman should be next unless Kadri lands you a significant better return than Coleman.
All 3 should go this year IMO, but if they only move 2 then it probably makes more sense that Coleman goes at the deadline as he is a guy that most teams will want to add as he won't disrupt chemistry of your top lines. Kadri is a top 6 player and most top teams already have 2 centers performing at a high level.

I wonder if a team like SJ, tries to push some chips in to try and make it to the playoffs since it has been so long. I would love that Oilers pick. I think the closer we get to the trade deadline, and they are still in a playoff spot, maybe they consider rentals.

I think they will. Celebrini is exceeding expectations at this point and is looking like he could be the guy that takes over McDavid as the best player in the league. Getting him the playoffs at an early age along with Smith and all their young players would be beneficial for them long term over more picks IMO.
I do think they will want someone who fits in long term. Player with term or someone who wants to re-sign with team.

Rasmus fits their needs. Coleman would be a help but you can say that about any team as far as he goes.

Comments that the org is very aware of the backlash to the Maloney interview

He (Frank) also said the Vancouvers and Nashvilles have to get out in front of it because they have lesser assets, and that Calgary has the two key pieces and can be patient.
Picked February 1st as a good time estimate as to when to move them.

Ras fits their need for sure, but I doubt they pay for him as a rental. He needs to sign an extension and that would be a game changer for what SJ would trade.
Coleman fits a need as well. They have an unstoppable player and really line that can carry a team right now. Guys that can produce not on the PP and excel on the PK is what they need as well.
Celebrini is pacing for close to 130 points as a 19-year-old. He is almost a lock is he plays 82 games to get 100+ points. Colorado is destroying the league right now with 2 superstars and a team full of players that fit a role. SJ already has 1 piece that 31 other teams can't say they have.
A player like Ras should be taking note and re-considering what team he wants to play for. Sure, Vegas would be nice, and SJ seemed to be a risk in the summer. Not anymore. Players should be lining up to play in SJ right now if they want to win.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I get the impression Ras won't agree to an extension anywhere (aside from Vegas) and will play his cards as a UFA this summer.

I think there are 5 major assets that could potentially move, and I rank them:
1) Hughes - there will not be a better player available on the trade market of in UFA for years probably
2) Andersson
3) Kadri
4) O'Reilly
5) Coleman
There are a bunch of other pieces from Vanocuver and Nashville, but I would these are your 5 premium pieces rumoured to be moving this season. You can make an argument about the ranking in the last 3 spots. I think Coleman may draw the most interest out of those 3. O'Reilly has a much easier contract to move than Kadri does (shorter term, less money, and no protection). It will be interesting to see the prices as these moves happen. Hughes will be an interesting move - does another team other than NJ step-up with a big offer?
