Sounds like the open for business Canucks are in no rush to make trades and want young players and not picks/prospects in the deals.
but they said they put their players on the market and beat us to it!

lol

...and water is wet. There is no trade market for teams right now unless you want to get fleeced. Every GM knows this, and that is why no significant trade will occur until we are closer to a deadline.

Yes, exactly. They just need to make 2-3 more deals to get 2-3 more first round picks between this year and next. I’d be surprised/disappointed if this doesn’t turn out to be the case.

Means you would have a run of:

2024: 2 1sts
2025: 2 1sts
2026: 3 1sts
2027: 3 1sts

Those 10 1sts in a 4 year span are how you build a solid core that is around the same age and grows together.
Add in 8-10 2nds during that span as well.

Mix in just one top-3 pick could be enough.

In typical Toronto media fashion.
They’re now willing to trade Knies and a “few” picks for Q.Hughes
Lord have mercy on their soul.

Between Brad “in on everything” Treliving and the terrible Homer Toronto media it’s comical how much this team thinks it has all the pieces to acquire anyone available.

And you wonder why the Leafs are so despised.
The arrogance around the Centre of the hockey universe.

It would be funny to see that deal happen and Hughes walk in the summer of 2027

Frank on the FAN saying the Flames have “the best goods” on the trade market.

Pat and Wes also saying the Flames set a date of US Thanksgiving to see where they are and it sure sounds like they are setting the table for what most of us want which is more than just Andersson moved.

Comments that the org is very aware of the backlash to the Maloney interview

Didn’t Pat and Eric talk about how the Flames would only move Rasmus on the radio 10 days ago?

All good news if true.

To my mind Coleman is really the big ticket. If other posters are right getting a first for him or any thing else on top is value that cant be ignored. Like him as a player but trading him or kadri is pushing it all on the table organizationally for a rebuild. Not to mention just positionally Honzek is set to return and Gridin is making a case for immediate call up.

Kadri i think is a blow our socks off type of deal only in my mind or he stays and Cc says nothing to him. Family happy dont have to move.

From my perspective until the number one center position is filled all assets should be used or accrued to get one.

Even if they just trade Andersson and Coleman, that could easily a fetch you a first and a couple of second round picks, sprinkled in with some B level prospects.

I do think the team should trade Kadri, the team is terrible, should be more focused on developing younger players, but not sure management sees it that way

Anywho...very excited about the futur upe, super stoked about McKenna being a flames possibly, would be awesome to see him go head to head with McDavid... don't screw this up CC....this bad season is a blessing in disguise

I think Stienberg has been saying he thinks the Flames will move 2 out of the three this year.

Ras is pretty much a guarantee to be moved. Hopefully Kadri goes if it's only one of him and Coleman, because he would bring the bigger return.

Detroit strikes me as a team that needs to trade some 1st round picks. They have missed the playoffs for 9 years, there must be a huge appetite to make the playoffs this year, I think their dream of drafting high again are probably over, as they have turned as corner in the teams rebuild. All their good young players are signed long term and at great value, no one over 9 million and they have over 40 million in cap space next year

To Detroit: Kadri, Andersson, Coleman
To Calgary: 1st round pick 2026, 1st round pick 2027, 2nd round pick 2025, b level prospect

That’s a pretty bad deal for the flames…
Better off trading each of those guys separately somewhere else

I would want Danielson as part of the return if the flames gave them everything they have left in terms of valuable vets to trade.
