I could see him being somewhere in the stratosphere of a Hedman- one who produces at nearly a ppg clip, with a solid puck-moving, two-way game.
Verhoeff’s D-minus-1 year in the CHL was historic as far as point production, and his season-to-date in the NCAA (points per game-wise) is one of the best for a D-man of his age group in the last 35 years.

Yeah but… realistically are many teams beating that offer by much? Especially without retention. Toronto sure ain’t.

Probably another team and if not then not sure now would be the time to move Kadri. A 1st is definitely a requirement.

I gotta agree with Vinny, a first should be a part of the package.

Pietrangelo would be a better comparison.

If we are trading with Florida we should be looking for sawchyn as an add on.

It was a weird clip to try and make that point. But it's not like no centre ever has one in from the side with speed. It's McDavid's whole game and MacKinnon likes to do it too.

Todd Marchant played over 1000 games as a small fast center.

It's definitely hard for a smaller center, especially if they aren't all that physical.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. You should try to lean into the center position for development, but he'll let them know what he is by how he does. Most of the time centers can adapt to the wing and when you look at a lot of team's top 6, especially good ones, they often have more players listed as centers than just two.
I think some people still just have PTSD from the Bennett situation where he couldn't (or I would argue, wouldn't) adapt to the wing.

I am really not so worried on who is or isn't a center in the long run. The important thing is that there will be competition. Reschny, Potter, Stocksellius - that's a really good influx out of one draft.
Who knows whom else will be added next draft - and Flames will be adding more picks and prospects to this organization still. They will end up deciding who becomes a center or not. Just need competition at that position, that's all.

Probably correct. Better offensive numbers in the WHL than Morrisey in his D-1 season, better offensive numbers than Evan Bouchard in his OHL D-1 season, better offensive numbers than Morgan Rielly in D-1 season.
Almost the same offensive pace as Zayne Parekh in his D-1 season.
Has the best offensive numbers of any draft eligible NCAA defenceman in 40 years.

Was looking at the top 100 NHL-affiliated prospects list (August 2025) from The Hockey News to try to come up with some potential trades for Andersson, Kadri and Coleman. For the most part, I’m trying to stick with teams that are firmly in their “win now” window rather than teams coming out of their rebuilds because I don’t think they will trade top prospects for anyone… the exceptions being teams desperate to make the playoffs after a long time missing out (eg. Detroit or Utah). Also trying to avoid teams that the flames won’t trade to or are for sure on NT lists (eg. Edmonton or Buffalo). I didn’t include any prospects listed in the top 20 according to the Hockey News list.
Any of the following trades seem reasonable? Too much? Not enough? What if salary retention was added to these trades? Assume the picks are top 10 protected.
A)
To New Jersey:
Nazem Kadri
To Calgary:
Anton Silayev (LD) + 2026 1st round pick
B)
To Carolina:
Rasmus Andersson
To Calgary:
Bradley Nadeau (C/RW) + 2027 1st round pick
C)
To Montreal:
Nazem Kadri
To Calgary:
Michael Hage (C)+ 2026 1st round pick
D)
To Los Angeles:
Rasmus Andersson
To Calgary:
Liam Greentree (RW) + 2026 1st round pick
E)
To Winnipeg:
Nazem Kadri
To Calgary:
Brayden Yager (C) + 2026 1st round pick
F)
To Colorado:
Coleman (50% retained)
To Calgary:
Mikhail Gulyayev (LD) + 2026 2nd round pick
G)
To Utah:
Rasmus Andersson
To Calgary:
Dmitri Simashev (LD) + 2026 1st round pick

I think most are in the realm of reality, albeit on the optimistic side high end side. These would be solid returns.
I think the other teams would be pushing hard for retention to include higher end prospects.

I don't think Anton Silayev and his 1 pt in 31 KHL games this season would excite me very much. I unfortunately don't see Andersson bringing back 2 firsts of value. Kadri I could see having the most value due to the term.
