I think Potter might be a winger in the NHL. There’s not many 5’10” centers in the bigs.

It's probably not far off. That is essentially like trading up to 2nd OA from where ever the Vegas 1st ends up being.

According to the Puckpedia draft pick conversion calculator, the 2nd OA has an average value of 72.69. If we assume the Vegas pick is 20th OA, which it would be today, the average value for that pick is 18.76.

It's hard to assign values to Parekh and Potter because they are no longer picks. The closest thing we could do is assign them the value based on where they were picked last year. A 9th OA (Parekh) would have a value of 36.66 and a 32nd OA (Potter) would have a value of 10.38.

That would put the trade proposal value for the Flames at 65.8 to 72.69 for the 2nd OA. That suggests the Flames would be giving up less value and should make the trade, but it is probably reasonably close. The 3rd OA has a value of 62.07, so the same trade package for that pick would be a slight overpayment according to Puckpedia's data. I don't believe the Vegas pick will be as high as 20th OA, so if it falls lower the proposal becomes much more favourable for the Flames.

Of course it is debatable on whether Parekh and/or Potter have increased or decreased the value of their respective draft position this year from last year. I would suggest they probably haven't changed much, but not a hill I would die on. It also comes down to the value of having depth in the prospect pool and "more darts" over the high end quality that a 2nd OA should provide.

According the calculator, the 2nd OA has roughly the same value as the 14th/15 OA + 9th OA + 32nd OA. So to make the trade completely even the Vegas pick would need to be 14th or 15th OA.

Bedard is a center, there is a chance!

Not sure who will pan out and to what position -- I don't like the idea of giving up 3 young assets for 1 in this proposal. That might be what the cost is. I personally would not pay it.

Just from the tidbit Sandman posted from nhltraderumors
Panthers interested in Kadri, asides from them having no picks to trade
That would be the most pain in the ass team

Tkachuk, Bennett, Marchand, Kadri

I day dreamed them on the flames roster for a long time!

Belligerence is a good thing to have in the playoffs!

As is Brayden Point. He's got one inch on Potter but is about the same weight.

I don't think I would feel great doing that either.

But at the same time, if the Flames had the 2nd OA this year, I don't think I'd feel good about trading it for the 20th OA in any given draft, plus the 9th and 32nd pick from the previous year either. I'd be like, WTH Craig, we finally get a top 3 pick and you traded it for quantity over quality?

The 2nd OA just has a much higher chance of being a franchise player, which are almost impossible to acquire any other way but through the draft. Statistically, the quality of player you can expect at 9th, 20th, and 32nd, are easier to find later on.

Jeremy Tingly suggests the price for Kadri to go to Florida would be Eetu Luostarainen, Mackie Samoskevich, and their two second-rounders.

Conroy said he's a center and they'll be developing him as one. That was from his post rd1 interview at the draft.

Samoskevich is a pretty exciting young player as part of that package. Fast, offensively skilled.

Might as well throw in Cole Schwindt if that is the type of crappy return they can give the Flames.

The Flames would need to retain for that to work for Florida, especially if there is any hope for Tkachuk or Barkov to come back at some point.

That's the other part that probably makes it harder to make trades. The NHL is cracking down teams being over the regular season salary cap when the playoffs start, so some buyers currently using LTIR might not want to risk it.

I am also not sure why Florida, currently in 25th, would want to sell futures. With the injuries they have, they are probably better off resetting for next year rather than trying to go all in to make the playoffs.

I get that it’s not super appealing. But is a young and former late first round pick who has actually made the NHL better or worse than a mystery late first round pick?

Replace that with Eetu, 2x2nds, and a 1st (pick likely later than 25th), and I’d bet people here are pretty stoked.

I’ve always liked this kid, it’s the rest of the package that’s a bit meh.
