I think two 1sts for Binnington is more than fair. Get it done!

I don't want them to get Binnington

He's streaky but when he's hot he's damn near unbeatable, is generally good in big games, and tends to play better with something to prove. He was unreal at the 4 nations.

Put him there and he will go on an FU run for sure and help them win games.

Binnington is such a hot head that he would probably end up murdering someone on the Oilers.

I imagine he may have preferred not to play in a Canadian market given the extra attention he would receive.

It's not uncommon for McDavid types to be past their prime by 27-28 due to playing big minutes when they are 18.

Guys like Leon often are past their prime when they hit 30.

Both are still great players, but they have carried this team for years and if they slip at all, this team is old and bad. It's not just Skinner.

And it isn't just the offensive side of the puck: xGA/60 rising, more shot attempts against in less ice time, less defensive TOI, etc.

I wonder how much of this is just due to playing in the Stanley Cup two years in a row and he needs a 'recovery' year, but even going back to 2016-17 you can see the clear regression in his game due to his speed declining and becoming less elite 5v5, particularly on the defensive side of the puck.

This is what I'm kind of thinking/hoping. There's no perfect solution I don't think but in the near term, I think this has the potential to work out well.

I think Stanley Cup fatigue has caught up to the Oilers especially McDavid and Draisaitl who are leaned on so heavily. There was always going to be a price to pay for the heavy deployment used by all their coaches year over year.

Thing is they are probably going to get someone so blowing their load on Binnington might work out pretty awesome. He has never played on a team that gives up chances like the Oilers do and even so his numbers aren't very good.

I've said it before many times; we've already seen the best of McDavid. It's decline from here on out.

Seemed like he flopped out of position after first saves a lot

Isn't that his normal style, 10% technique and 90% desperation?

Perfect timing for the grease to get spanked at home for 8 goals against. They now get to mingle with the citizens of mulletville and head to west Edmonton mall for their yearly autograph session with the tier 2 fans. Which respiratory virus will mcdavid catch this year?

I’m salivating over the potential beef between Binnington, Nurse, Bouchard, McAvi and Drai. If there was a way to make this group more dysfunctional, it’s adding Binnington.
