^ Will proof be required? It doesn't seem like it at the clinic, but perhaps afterwards when the bills are sent out?
5% of Canadian adults have ADHD (which is under-diagnosed to begin with) and over 50% of those medicated for the condition stop their meds after a year due to undesirable side effects. There's really no cost effective way for the province to determine someone is lying about having ADHD short of forcing them to go get checked for it. And then it's just a matter of feigning being easily distrac- ooh, shiny thing.
Or cross the border to BC or SK. I’m looking to get it done in Sparwood.
Came to say this same thing. Be a vaccine refuge! Quick trip to BC, got covid and flu shots for the whole family, and it cost $0 (aside from the gas and car snacks).
GoA will get a bill from the GoBC for the full amount and I will hope that I am helping my fellow Albertans because I did not take a dose away from someone who is unable to travel. I hope BC publishes a report on the number of refugees that they get from Alberta for vaccines. That'll be a fun dunk from one government to another to say "we are serving your people because you refuse to".
I am worried about the approach about lying to get a shot because I think they will add that information to our permanent record.... then the next thing you know, the UCP will allow insurance companies to stop paying out to people with pre-existing conditions, like the conditions that get you a free COVID shot.

Sad it's come to needing to lie to the govenrment to access preventative healthcare, but I guess that's where we are in Alberta. Thank your neighbours.
They had little signs up saying you could be charged later, and they made you sign an electric pad thing acknowledging that fact. But even that process is highly dubious and doesn't seem to meet the requirements for a 'contract', especially when compared to the terms posted online when you registered (I think I may have grabbed a screenshot of that if anyone needs it). It was just a stupid scare tactic.
And the nurses DGAF and aren't going to narc on anyone.

Well, if it were an emergency to make sure that some kids can't go by a different name, or have different pronouns, surely a strike in the healthcare sector warrants the use of the notwithstanding clause!
Why even have the Charter at this point, when the government precedes everything it does with its use?

Yeah, dude. The $160 was for Covid and Flu. You do have to pay for both, but that was the combined total.
I wrestled with this last night because I'm worried for my staff having to pay this much, so today I put out a memo. Get your shot before November 30 and I'll pay for it. Bring me the receipt once you have it or come to me ahead of time and I'll give you the money up front.
I can't believe POS UCP voters want to make things less healthy and more difficult for lower earners. I can eat this $160 for myself, but it's a huge sum for others and I know some people are opting to save the money and roll the dice on their health.
If you voted for this garbage you're truly vile.

It's already happening. Southern Alberta residents are choosing to deliver babies in BC because of the lack of infrastructure. If you live in CNP area it's easier to drive to Fernie and deliver than the Alberta options. I don't think it's on Interior Health's radar yet, but it's a political point the NDP should be hammering on.

You know, Sliver you got some thoughts I find pretty out there sometimes, but this is the move of a damn good boss I would be happy to work for.

While checking in at the AHS clinic with the kids I watched a few people appear quite confused about the payment declaration, and you could tell they weren't sure about the cost and if they could manage it. Pissed me off to no end, and definitely another part of the plan to dissuade people from getting a covid vaccination.

Did you get the nasal flu vaccination? Isn't the flu shot free and only the nasal vaccination has a cost associated with it?

Huh, they must have added that later. I went on day 3.
