Man, what a great save by Carducci on that Forge header just before stoppage time.

Man, flights to Ottawa (or most places in this country) are not cheap. Guess I won't be making the trip.

Was great to see Tobias play well as the 10 again. Against York it worked well because we can keep the ball against them, but I wasn’t sure how well it would work against a higher quality opponent. It really suits his game when we’re on the ball and we still managed very well without it

Warschewski loves to drift all over the pitch, so when he was isolated up top there was no outlet. Having Elva up top allows Warschewski to roam but to put more pressure on the backline freeing up space. Even if Camargo is healthy, which I'm not sure he is, you should still start those two next week.
Ntignee was a threat on the left all game, although he tended to take too long on the ball and would give it away after dribbling into trouble. I found Musse had a quiet game too. More to give from that front line.
Also how good has Tom Field been the last couple games? Steady presence on the back end and has cut out the high profile mistakes Montgomery is prone to make. For a guy that is kind of just on the roster every year he has had a big impact this playoffs.

Elva and Musse should have had one goal between them at least, which is a decent showing most days. Camargo's injury may have been the most timely thing ever which is weird to say about your best player this season.
Carducci did not look like playoff Carducci. If he figures out how to save a PK - look out.
It's kind of nice going into the final and being ok with either result. Tonight ensured this offseason won't be painful. That said, I want winter games at McMahon this year. Let's do this.

This team sure is full of surprises! They defended so well as a team, keeping Forge to 0.82xG according to canpl.ca. Elva and Ntignee really should have scored and we will most likely need that for the final. But how good does it feel to have a clinical player, one chance, one shot, one goal. Warschewski is the all-time CPL leader for goals with 5 also according to the canpl article. He has his flaws but I wouldn't trade him for any striker in the league, it's up to the coaches and team to plan around him and they really have done that well in these playoffs.
Hopefully Camargo can be an option off the bench in Ottawa next weekend.
It sucks for me that the final is on Sunday as I won't be able to watch it.

What a great game. Toby was all over it, and not just in attack. He was a man on a mission and was clearly motivated to beat them. His taunt to the Forge supporters was superb lol.
Would love to go back-to-back and host some Mexican team in the champions league in winter

I think that Cavalry could pull this off. Part of that might be wishful thinking, but part of it is that when you look at the line-up we fielded yesterday, it's just really good!

Ottawa were the best team wire to wire. Cavalry CAN win. Will they? Ottawa will be well prepared and well rested, and at home.
Let's hope for some Toby magic again.

I watched the OneSoccer postgame coverage this morning and it was pretty great. Ripping on Forge for just falling apart to end the season, and showing how the Massunda and Bekker were just lifeless and pouting on the bench with 10 minutes left instead of engaged and egging their teammates on. Warschewski's interview was great, I love that guy. So positive and down to earth. They also ripped on Forge for not celebrating the shield like they were above it. No double for you, losers!
I was also feeling ridiculously down about the Jays for a bandwagon baseball fan, and this saved my weekend.

The one thing that gives me some hope is that Cavalry have shown glimpses of pulling off a good, tactical game plan, particularly against Forge. That thumping at home to end the streak, and now this playoff win. They actually feel like the final last season where there was finally an answer for Forge, everyone was on board, and the plan was executed properly. That old "Tommy got it right" feeling.
Can they do the same vs. Ottawa? Maybe. I'd like to think that Cavalry haven't shown all of their tactical cards to Ottawa yet. Is that the same as not having figured out Ottawa yet? Maybe. But only the next game matters and nobody will remember Ottawa being a pain in the ass to beat all season.

Toby has been an absolute revelation for this club since he joined. Many times he's pulled this club into success all on his own. Dude could dribble in a phone booth too; such a treat to watch when the ball is on his foot.

Toby is one of those situations where I can't understand why he's not playing in a "bigger" league, but selfishly, I am very happy that we get to have him here.

Indeed. I remember being so worried about what would happen when Pasquotti moved on... and now we have Tobimeister.
